Polarium

*Spoilers!*
(Read The Forgotten Childrenfirst)

Geographic Position: West of Laccadive Sea, within Arabian Ocean, within Indian Ocean   Polarium is a territory recently conquered in 1894, though evidence of small scattered native settlements there have existed since before the late 1400's. Until very recently, the nation and its vast unexplored territory belonged to the native Polarians. Now, Polarium is governed under the control of Pharacorp, a powerful technology and military power. The Polarians have recently engaged in violent rebellion agianst Pharacorp, contesting ownership of the whole country and all of its regions. Their claims and outcry paint Pharacorp as a technocracy, including alligations that Pharacorp is supposedly deep into magical research. With secret information leading to Pharacorp's trademarked Nrixus Magic, they are holding thier defense against rebel activity.

Geography

Polarium is not a large country by comparison to others, but its lands stretch far and wide. Polarium, despite containing no new mountains is a collection of deep forests that shift dramatically in elevations. Some sections of the zone are separated by tall ridges and walls lifting up to 14,000 feet high that are believed to be part of old mountains. The height difference of some of these ridges seems unnatural. Lakes and rivers are the known sources of fresh water, but Polarium does not directly lead to any oceans. Its nation is instead surrounded by other established territories.

Ecosystem

Polarium has an internal weather phenomena that on most days restricts any and all direct sunlight in all of the areas. The entire nation receives only stormy weather of wide varieties. There is constant overcast or storm clouds in the sky during most of the daytime, and occasionally clear weather only during nightfall. Thunderstorms and rain are frequent. But when general overcast occurs, the Rayleigh scattering of the sun through the clouds creates a powerful bloom effect from beneath the cloud coverage, one like no other. This effect often enhances blue and ultraviolet lighting that comes through, giving the appearance of anything outdoors of Polarium during this time a faint blue filter. This phenomena is currently known as the Blue Light Filter Effect. Despite the constant lack of sun, the forests are dense with tropical trees and tons of indigenous life forms. The average temperature of this area is in a dry 70's, while humidity is low during hours of no rainfall.

Ecosystem Cycles

During the deepest part of winter, the sky has a higher chance of becoming clear during the day time, while the possibility of snow while low may occur.

History

The history of Polarium is unknown at this time. The nation was never fully developed, and so no museums or historical documents have been kept up to date.

Tourism

Due to a declaration of war between the natives and its controlling government, tourism is not allowed.
