Imbar
Widely regarded as the most pleasant of all Elector States, the southwestern upland lakes and hills are popular with wealthy landowners. It escaped the worst of the Sakamohr ravages and the peninsular is known for good wine production. The inhabitants of Imbar are often viewed as elitist and snobbish.
The northern border still retains the castles and fortifications from the Confederacy breakaway, which are still maintained by the nobility there as a matter of pride. The great escarpment on its western border is an impressive sight and was thought to be the largest cliffs in the world, until the towers of the land bridge to the north were discovered. The capital, Ashris, sits at the foot of the rolling hills and vineyards of the peninsular and has a good-sized port. Another important town is Crumos, the gateway to the lakes and hills in the southwest.
Structure
As a state that managed to avoid the depravations of the Sakamohr, Imbar retained most of its structure from before Til-Yaltur's crusade. That the Imbarian nobility wholeheartedly embraced Til-Yaltur's vision, and his rearrangement of the Empire afterwards, meant that unlike a lot of old Imperial provinces, the nobility largely remained in place. The Elector Lord was appointed from one of Til-Yaltur's companions, but aside from that, the region has not altered in almost two thousand years.
The Elector Lord rules from the capital, Ashris, and the province is split into a dozen counties, each of which is ruled by a hereditary position, some who take pride in tracing their lineage back to the formation of the Empire. Taxes are collected centrally, then, after the Imperial tithe is taken, redistributed back into the counties, based on a complex formula.
Local lords, whilst being loyal to the Empire and the Elector Lord, are also fiercely independent, and each one maintains their own soldiery, and minor conflicts between them are relatively common. These conflicts do not result in exchange of territories, but rather court influence, and the proportion of the taxes returned back to a region.
Culture
As one of the only Elector States that retained its structure and nobility after Til-Yaltur's crusade, the nobility, and commoners to a lesser extent, view themselves as more refined and sophisticated than other Imperial states. That Imbar is also the source of a lot of well-regarded food and drink, exported all over the Empire, and that the lake region of the state is considered one of the most beautiful parts of the Empire, helps with this mindset.
