Imperial
Inhabitants of the Empire of Belyos, Imperials do not originate from the lands they currently occupy, but their origins are known only to the gods. They are the most populous and most advanced people group known on Pande.
Naming Traditions
Family names
Imperials have a strong sense of duty, and their family names tend to reflect a family's traditional work, so as such names such as 'Farmer', 'Smith' and 'Crafter' are common. Noble house names tend to be more prosaic, and are often centuries old with an unknown origin.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
The only language spoken with any frequency is simply called Imperial and all Imperials speak it, although there are variations in dialect, particularly between those in the north, who were once the Confederation. An organisation called the Imperial Language Bureau, part of the Imperial Bureaucracy, is designated the task of ensuring Empire-wide understanding.
Major organizations
Almost all Imperials can be found in the Empire of Belyos, although significant numbers are emigrating to the new world and the opportunities there.
