Geography

P'Ache Major is part of the P'Ache Star System, and is the largest of the four habitable planets in this system. The planet has one major landmass, simply referred to as Mor, which makes up 41% of the surface, the remaining 59% being water.

The majority of Mor's cities are at least 35% underground, with some having as much as 67% of their space situated below the planet's surface. It has a large amount of iron particles both in its atmosphere and in the soil, giving the planet its ruddy hue. This makes it extremely difficult to grow anything nutritious on the surface, and the Majoran instead house their farms underground.

Climate

Situated in the middle of Mor, several hundred miles south of the only mountain range on P'Ache Major, Upper Ultra has extremely harsh weather conditions. The surface temperatures can reach highs of 75°C (167°F) and winds averaging speeds of 253 miles per hour (407 kilometers per hour).
Inside the city proper, the climate is controlled, with a temperature of 22°C (72°F) unless required otherwise.

People

Demographics

While there are a wide variety of people who live in Upper Ultra, the majority of Ultrans are Majoran.
Majorans are a type of Pachian who originate from P'Ache Major. They are known for their resourcefulness, which is unsurprising considering the skills needed to survive on their relatively barren planet. Finding edible food for example, took a serious amount of skill, and they quickly developed tools and methods for solving the problem. This resourcefulness has stayed with them and they are particularly good at practical and technical problem solving.

Government

As with all settlements on P'Ache Major (as well as most major settlements within the P'Ache Star System, Upper Ultra is governed by laws laid down by the Command for the planet, in this case P'Ache Major Command. These laws are passed down from P'Ache Command, which in turn recieves orders from Peacekeeper Command.
When it comes to managing the day-to-day running of the city, Upper Ultra is led and managed by representatives from the four largest "laboratories" (Labs) around which the city is built. Each of these Labs is responsible for the management of a different part of the city, and work together where necessary for the running of the space port and other communal areas.

Guilds & Factions

The largest guilds and factions within Upper Ultra are made up of employees (and their families) of the four largest Labs in the city. The other Labs often join together to form the "Unassociated Labs" guild. It should be noted that all of these Labs consider themselves the best in the city and are constantly on the cusp of the invention or discovery of the next big thing.

Districts

There are four official districts in Upper Ultra, one for each of the four biggest labs in the city. These districts are all very similar in their make up, with areas for visitors showing off the latest innovations, offices and laboratories for working towards the next great innovation and residences for their employees, as well as the usual recreational activities, including shops and other places for employees to spend their money. These districts operate inside the towers above the planet's surface and deep underground.
Outside of these four official districts, is an area known as the Common Ground. This area occupies part of the area above ground and part of the area closest to the surface and is occupied by all the other labs that come to Upper Ultra to innovate and seek their fortune. It also includes the Space Port.

Industry & Trade

Upper Ultra is built around principles of innovation and invention. Their primary trade is creating new ideas to support the Peacekeeper Alliance. Each of the four major Labs has representatives from Peacekeeper Efficiency inside and this is where the majority of the funding for the city comes from.

Tourism

Tourism is lighter in Upper Ultra than in other cities on P'Ache Major, as the city is so heavily focused on work and invention. While there are areas of the city which are designed for tourists and visitors, a lot of the city would actually be quite dangerous for outsiders as tests and experiments are constantly underway.

History

Upper Ultra was the first place on P'Ache Major where citizens were able to live above ground. Since its inception in -9753 PT, it has been the heart of innovation for the planet. The city started as a test to see whether or not living above ground was plausible and since then it has never looked back. The large sand flats on one side and the lake on the other provide excellent test sites for whatever experiment they may need to run.
For the first 10,000 years it was seen only as that, a test site, but when the Majorans partnered with the Primians and the other species within the P'Ache Star System, a capital city was needed and the Majorans became known for their innovation. It made sense, therefore that Upper Ultra (which until this point had simply been known as Test Space Alpha) become the de facto and then official capital of the planet.
