Halfling
Descended from the first interstellar diaspora of gnome generation ships, the halflings are a group of smaller posthumans characterized by their mix of gnomish and baseline human traits.
Biology
Anatomy & Morphology
Halflings are highly similar to baseline humans, though they retain many gnomish traits in moderation (notably height). While halflings are taller and usually have less pigmented skin than gnomes, they still have an abundance of whisker-like hair on their faces and semi-opposable thumbs on their feet.Ecology
Geographic Origin & Distribution
After populations of gnomes colonized their destination worlds, baseline human genes began to re-emerge in the gene pool as they re-adapted for planetary life. After several generations, the majority of the population exhibits a mix of gnomish and baseline traits, making them halflings. This group of posthumans are almost as common as baseline humans, and are found in greatest numbers near the core of ex-Reach space.Civilization & Culture
Halflings fall under a wide variety of cultural groups, each unique to their adoptive homeworld. The halflings of the idyllic planet Vanas are among the most prominent: a rustic, carefree folk of short stature and large hearts. Vanir culture is homely, if somewhat hedonistic, and puts emphasis on finding the joy in life. Vanir find great pride and satisfaction in agriculture and hospitality, but have an adventurous streak that cannot easily be ignored.Major Organizations
