Dwarf
Duarrin
Stout and hardy, the Duarrin, commonly called dwarves, are descended from the first human diaspora. Living below the surface of the high-gravity planet Myrc led the dwarves to evolve an uncanny sturdiness and strength.
Biology
Anatomy & Morphology
Dwarves are highly similar to true humans, though their bone structure is denser due to their homeworld's higher gravity. This is also part of the reason for their height and overall build, though the majority of the evolutionary pressure for the dwarven stature is their largely subterranean lifestyle. Their famously robust beards are also products of this, as well as their rudimentary echolocation and secondary infrared-thermal sensitivity.Perception & Sensory Capabilities
Though dwarven eyesight is slightly weak in the visible spectrum, they are able to see in the near-infrared. To supplement this, Duarrin have evolved a rudimentary echolocation system through overdeveloped ears.Ecology
Geographic Origin & Distribution
The dwarven subspecies of human originated on the bleak planet Myrc and its moon Nidavellir, in the Yggdrasil star system. They are almost as common as true humans.Civilization & Culture
The dwarves are known for their industrious and hyper-technological culture. They are well suited for physical work of all kinds, especially asteroid and Jovian mining.Major Organizations
