Beacon of the Skylands
The Beacon of the Skylands is the nomadic Nuél-orokh tribe whose territory covers the majority of the Northern Duchy and Central Duchy, spanning the area between Val-Nurem and the borders of Erdelan.
The home base of the Beacon of the Skylands is called The Beaconhold. The Beacon has a policy of sheltering and guiding any who need aid in their stronghold until it is safe for them to leave, though they expect labor and defense from all who stay and are able to offer it. In happier times, they hold feasts on major holidays where all are welcome. The thousands of floating lanterns they release from the high tower on Ilgaslana are an iconic sight in the region.
Culture
Core values of the Beacon of the Skylands include kindness, forgiveness, and hard work. The most enduring legends among the tribe are those where bandits, criminals, and even members of the Howling Horde change their ways and lead honest lives after seeking help at the Beaconhold. In reality, though some enemies of the Beacon have taken advantage of their kindness to infiltrate and weaken them, many of the weak and vulnerable cast out from the Horde find their way into the Beacon and convert to the worship of Prometheus and the ways of the Nuél-orokhim.
Public Agenda
The warriors of the Beacon of the Skylands are sworn to defend the peace and prosperity of the northern reaches of Dreibach and to bring the light and generosity of Prometheus to the people of the land. They consider themselves not just enemies of the Howling Horde, but enemies of terror, hardship, and hunger in all their forms.
Agriculture & Industry
The nomads of the Beacon keep sheep, goats, and alpacas in large numbers for their meat, milk, and especially wool. The soft, intricate woven goods created by the tribe are highly prized by the townsfolk of Klïppington, Klöppington, Ettelane, and smaller towns across the Northern Duchy. Members of the Beacon are also famed falconers.
