The Beaconhold

The Beaconhold is the home base for the Beacon of the Skylands. It is located in the Northern Duchy of Dreibach, in the steppes on the border between the Ossir Hills and the Blue Mountains, two days' travel east of Ettelane.
The Beaconhold lights an enormous torch from its highest tower in times of distress, such as during dangerous blizzards or particularly fierce raids of the Howling Horde. All who seek shelter are welcome in the Beaconhold for as long as they need, though they are expected to help with the upkeep and defense of the fort to the extent that they are able. In happier times, the Beaconhold holds feasts for their people and the surrounding villages on major holidays. The thousands of floating lanterns they release on Ilgaslana are an iconic sight in the region, depicted in numerous artworks and lauded as a must-see in Merriweather Jaunt's The Homesick Halfling's Guide to The Northern Duchy.
