Sixfold Faith

The Sixfold Faith was the largest organized religion in Ondûn. Dedicated to the worship of the Prime Pantheon, it was founded early in the Second Age and borrowed heavily from loxodon theology. Over the following centuries, it played a prominent role in the history and developments of many nations and empires across Ondûn.   Following the rise of Yog in the Fourth Age, the Sixfold Faith exploded in numbers and popularity, bending all its newly-founded resources towards quelling Yog’s nascent empire and sealing the elder entity back within the earth. While not a nation in the traditional sense, the Sixfold Faith was an important member of the Covenant Kingdoms.

History

Night Wars

The origins of the Sixfold Faith began during the early years of the Night Wars, the global conflicts between the dead legions of Thanatos and the rest of the world. The first incarnation of the church appeared in 12 2A by human refugees who converted to the loxodon faith in southwestern Sapphros. They founded the city of Piety on the shores of the Sea of Six Gods and grew exponentially, as more and more refugees flocked to their banner, seeking both a physical and spiritual escape from the bleak hopelessness of the Night Wars.   It was from these humble beginnings that the worldwide institution – the true Sixfold Faith – would emerge.

Second Age

Even when the wars ended, however,   In 67 2A, the Sixfold Faith came into opposition with the neighboring tyranny of Vhakizla – once ruled by the vampire wretch Caliphar II, now reclaimed by Vhakizla, the Wyrm Returned. Their opposition did not quite merit open warfare but they did blockade the Heartvein River, hoping to prevent Thanatos from resupplying her. An alliance between Zelene Silvers' pirate crew and the Menagerie broke this blockade on Athson 70, however.

Organization

Second Age

In its very beginnings, the church's organization was much more simplistic than it would eventually become. Humility was stressed as a cardinal virtue of the faithful and their hierarchy, therefore, was very direct. The common worshippers – called the Flock – were overseen by Shepherds, practicing priests and clerics of the faith.

Campaigns

The Menagerie

  • Vhakizla: When attempting to reach Vhakizla to begin their contract, the Menagerie came into conflict with a Pious blockade, seeking to prevent the dracolich from resupplying. After a short parley, the combined force of pirates and mercenaries overwhelmed both ships and broke the blockade. (Chapter 3)

All Hail Yog

Agnoment, the fallen angel, was originally created by priests of the Sixfold Faith as a figurehead for their crusades against Yogoth.
  • The Covenant: In 898, the current Supreme Pontiff, Athalia II, was among those Covenant leaders summoned to the Quorum and subsequently assassinated by Yog’s chosen. A burst of electricity from Alizabeth slew the Pontiff and Desdemonia murdered Boris, a young boy and her successor.
