Galileans
The Galileans are an ethnic group of humanoids from Galilea on Quadrilore. They were part of the modern human race on their planet that evolved after their climate changed dramatically. After the climate became more stable, the Galileans isolated themselves in what became Galilea, fostering a community of understanding and connections, even after they separated into different factions and nations.
Naming Traditions
Feminine names
Galileans use feminine names if the children are female. Most male Galileans don't take on feminine names unless they want to later on in life.
Masculine names
Galileans use masculine names if the children are males. However, some females are given masculine names when they are born and others choose a more masculine-sounding name depending on which faction they belong to.
Unisex names
Galileans are also given unisex names since their range of names allows that option.
Family names
Galileans normally have one paternal family name at the end of their full name. Since Galileans can rebirth, they traditionally take on their new father's name, too. Sometimes, parents give their children two surnames that result in a double-barrelled surname. Adopted children take on the name of their adoptive parents.
Other names
Most Galileans have second and third names after their given name. It's common to have three names but less common to have two or one. Having over four names in a person's name is seen as absurd.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
The major language of Galilea is Galilean, which is a dead language as most people have forgotten it after escaping Quadrilore. The dialects depended on where the Galileans are found on Quadrilore. Posher dialects were spoken in the northwest, which was where the Shadowhunters were mainly.
Common Dress code
Galileans were known to dress in dark hues with coloured lines on top of their clothes. The lines were commonly found on the cloaks that they wore. The coloured lines represented their colour identity, and what colours their powers made when they used them.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Galileans mainly uphold beauty standards that are slightly impossible to achieve, but they don't instil this into their culture.
