Nexans

The Nexans are an ethnic group of people from the country Nexar on Quadrilore. They mainly live the forested areas of cities across the world, which can make them quite isolated in comparison to other ethnic groups.

Diverged Ethnicities

Nexans were one of the oldest ethnicities on Quadrilore, and as they explored the planet, new ethnicities emerged from them. In fact, almost all of the ethnic groups that were last on planet Quadrilore came from them.

Naming Traditions

Family names

Nexans tend to have paternal surnames, and rarely have double-barrel surnames. If they have one, each part is usually one surname from each parent.

Other names

Many Nexans go by nicknames. These are either shortened versions of their actual names, or says something about their personality. They are often playful, even those that are created out of spite.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Nexans used to be able to speak their mother tongue, but lost it over time as they blended in with human culture. They could also speak Galilean at one point, but that language died too. The only remains of either language are words that humanoids needed to describe certain phenomena specific to the species.

Foods & Cuisine

Most Nexans are vegetarians and vegans, to keep their way of life. They brought plenty of herbs, fruits and vegetables to Earth to eat and use as medicines. Nexan foods often have a savoury taste, which make them good for meals.

Ideals

Relationship Ideals

Nexans don't think much of relationships, as they are quite solitary people. However, they do believe that people in romantic relationships are two parts of a whole. Although they value platonic relationships, they don't put much of an empahasis on them, as they believe one should not be reliant on people.
Their ideals has put them at odds with other ethnic groups, especially as the Nexans refused to help others multiple times. Many people say it contributed to the destruction of Quadrilore.
