Session 5 - Barnette Boy
General Summary
Everyone is swiftly brought to Remington Castle, but as Aldo announces the Queen's arrival, it turns out she’s not there. A squire emerges and informs Aldo that the Queen is too busy tonight. Instead, the group is given a night’s rest in the castle’s guest rooms and will have breakfast with the Queen in the morning.
The group separates into their respective rooms, with Cookie and Finn sharing a room. Hamilton has an episode in which he tears apart his room and cuts his hand. Eleanor attempts to speak with Hamilton, but gets scared off. When Sasha goes to speak with Hamilton herself, Eleanor insists that she give him space for the moment. Meanwhile, Cookie teaches Skinny the beginnings of how to feel the world around you by describing how a bed feels, among other things.
Skinny takes a walk in the halls and runs into Aldo doing rounds. Aldo encourages Skinny to not let the world drag him down before continuing his patrol.
In the middle of the night, Hamilton gets especially loud with his condition, prompting Sasha to rush over and investigate. The two begin to have a heartfelt conversation where Hamilton and Sasha both open up to one another. Skinny ends up popping in and giving his thoughts as well. The three eventually head back for a nice night of rest.
The next morning, everyone is seated at a long table, including the Guardians of Remington. Servos line the walls, which upsets Skinny. Aldo announces the arrival of Queen Elysia, but her mother, Margaret Remington, arrives instead, pretending to be her. Margaret thanks everyone for their service, but is interrupted by Elysia rushing out and escorting Margaret out.
Sitting down to eat, Elysia has awkward small talk with the group before demanding that the Servos not sit at the table. Skinny and Cookie are forced to stand off to the side. Elysia gifts Eleanor, Hamilton, and Sasha with 20g each as a thank you. Before dinner can end, a scribe rushes in and informs Elysia of a situation with someone named Oscar Barnette. Elysia hurries out of the room, clearly upset. Aldo rushes everyone out of the castle.
On the castle steps, the group is confronted by Margaret, who requests that the group head out to Luxury Acres and retrieve Oscar Barnette, a very important diplomat, and bring him back to Remington. The group agrees, and Hamilton is given a quick letter showing that the group represents Remington Kingdom.
The group begins to head out on the road, but are stopped shortly after by an ambush of Ka-Tar Tribesmen, who attack the group. During the fight, Hamilton notices a couple of wagons filled with MAD's supplies. He also encounters Ryka again as one of the members of the tribe. He puts two and two together and understands that Ryka and his tribe robbed MAD.
During this time, Skinny is knocked unconscious. Eleanor and Cookie both step up to defend the group, and Sasha discovers she has the ability to use magic, which she utilizes to save Skinny. Meanwhile, Hamilton tries to convince Ryka to call off his people. Peanut is hurt by the tribesmen during this time.
Suddenly, the Riders arrive along with their leader, Maddie Beck. She determines that the tribe is winning the fight, so they help our group. They make quick work of the tribe, leaving Ryka barely alive. As Hamilton crouches before Ryka and speaks with him, Maddie Beck interrupts by shooting Ryka in the head, killing him. Hamilton gets very upset, but eventually calms down. Sasha speaks with Maddie Beck, and the two hash out a deal. The Riders get paid for their services, but only if they help fix up Skinny. Maddie Beck agrees.
