Luxury Acres

A safe haven for those who can afford it

Luxury Acres, a small, gated community, sits toward the eastern coast of Nevurdul. Its people, the wealthiest on the island, enjoy countless amenities unavailable anywhere else. Tall mansions, clean lawns, and a high, metal fence around the entire territory presents a settlement with such extravagance, it hardly seems like it belongs in Nevurdul at all.

Architecture

The architecture in Luxury Acres is an impressive display. The settlement is built on a single, straight pathway, with lines of manors on each side. Each one of these manors was hand-crafted with marble, wood, and stone. The manors are all nearly identical in design, apart from subtle engravings that represent the family residing within. Each one of these manors is 3 stories tall, and is complete with a beautiful, green front lawn.
At the opposite end of the front gate sits the largest building in the settlement: Luca Strain's manor. This building, only slightly larger than the rest of the manors, sports an incredible garden that weaves around the sides and through the back of the building. A curve at the end of the main road allows carriages to pull up at the front door and leave with ease. The building itself is in similar design to everything else in the settlement, but on an even grander scale.

Economy

Luxury Acres' economy revolves around the plethora of connections its people have with the rest of the world. Rather than sell goods, complete jobs, or use other methods to gain profit, Luxury Acres' people have invested their wealth into a variety of businesses, allowing them to get a cut of the profits, in exchange for continued investment.
Luxury Acres is not at all self-sustaining, and uses a portion of its collective wealth to purchase goods from other settlements, or hire individuals to do the work instead. This remains true for just about every resource Luxury Acres requires.

History

The history of Luxury Acres stretches back approximately 100 years, to when the first Noble Elves arrived in Nevurdul. Elves have been living in Nevurdul for many, many years, but the Noble Elves were different. They came with their families, and with resources that were not native to Nevurdul at the time. Foreign fruits, vegetables, metals, etc. These Elves quickly established themselves as a people with resources that Nevurdul's natives desperately wanted. In selling these foreign resources, these Elves grew to be extravagantly wealthy.
With so much accumulated wealth, one of the Elves had the idea to establish a community only for those with the wealth or class to reside there. Thus, the construction of Luxury Acres was begun, and within the first year, a portion of the manors were completed. Within another year, the settlement was done. The Elves settled in, and as they grew old and their children took over as heads of their respective families, they connected themselves with Nevurdul's economic system, ensuring that they would remain wealthy for years to come.

Culture

The culture in Luxury Acres is generally what one would expect from the higher-class. Fine arts, such as painting, music, and literature, are appreciated in the settlement, and it shows with the hired bards, painters, etc. The settlement's people tend to view the rest of the island as disgusting and bothersome, preferring to remain inside their own gated community. Some of Luxury Acres' residents have never even stepped foot outside of the community.

Environment

Luxury Acres is placed atop a hill, giving it naturally higher ground to prevent bandits from attacking from above. Trees are sparse, but the beautiful fields make the view through the fence a welcoming one.
