Mistwarden

General Description

In the southwestern region of Rayas, permanent or prolonged mist covers vast areas. Mistwardens, highly knowledgeable about the terrain and creatures, serve as guides during periods of reduced visibility.

History

In the year 1038, as trade routes were being established, the earliest records of Mistwardens were noted. The coastal stretch, known for its value, was also heavily impacted by the mists. Richard Lenton, a prominent coal mine owner with ambitious plans for expansion, financed the construction of a tunnel through the Mullin Peaks to enhance trade relations with the east. However, the hazardous terrain and hostile local creatures resulted in the loss of numerous workers. In response, Lenton began seeking knowledgeable locals to assist in the day-to-day operations of the mine.   Following Lenton's example, other affluent individuals began hiring their own guides, commonly referred to as Mistwardens. These wardens are now prevalent in every major settlement, providing guidance to those transporting valuable cargo through the mist-covered domain.

Skills & Abilities

Mistwardens are typically rangers, hunters, or druids who utilize their innate abilities to excel in this role. Among their valuable skills is the art of conjuring a trail of lights, allowing their wards to follow safely as they scout ahead in the obscured terrain. Equipped with an array of tools, weapons, and potions, Mistwardens are prepared to face the diverse dangers present in the area.   To receive their training, Mistwardens attend a specialized academy located on Catani Island, situated near Kanoot Bay in the west. This island is consistently enveloped in dense mist throughout the year, providing an ideal and isolated training ground for the wardens.
