Anduin River

The Anduin River flows down out of the heights of the eastern reaches of the Grey Mountains and the northern reaches of the Misty Mountains.  Both original branches flowing down into the VALE OF GUNDABAD.  From the confluence of these two streams the river flows south a few days ride from the Misty Mountains roughly following the course of those mountains.  In this manner it creates a region of well watered lands that is productive, but as yet still predominantly wild, and is known as the VALES OF ANDUIN.   Reaching LORIEN the river winds eastward and wanders through and along the edges of cursed and wondrous realms.  From that point on it is roughly the divider between the gracious lands of the West and the cruel lands of MORDOR.     Once it harbored many great and wondrous places of Gondor.  It flows along the western edge of the Brown Lands and then enters EMYN MUIL.  There it flows in and out of the great lake NEN HITHOEL.  Exiting via the FALLS OF RAUROS.   This brings it to the Marshes surrounding the MOUTHS OF THE ENTWASH.  Here the ENTWASH RIVER splits into many branches flowing through and feeding the marshes before the waters they carry enter the Anduin on it's course to the sea.     The increased river then flows between ANORIEN and NORTH ITHILIEN.  Here it passes on both sides of the great island of CAIR ANDROS, then on to the City of OSGILIATH.  From there it sweeps back to the west along the boundary of SOUTH ITHILIEN until it reaches the sea.
