The End of WorldEmber and 2024

2024 is gone already, what????
Well, this has been an...interesting year, to say the least. It was the year I truly began my journey as a worldbuilder and writer. The year my pixel art skills skyrocketed in quality, especially from October. The year I began receiving recognition for my talents to the point where I was offered multiple commissions! I highly appreciate all the love and support I've received from them <3
As for WorldEmber, boy was it a fun time! While I didn't 100% fulfil my pledge, I'm still super happy with the 15,770 words written across 14 lovely entries so I don't regret deviating from my plans. ^^ I am also extremely grateful to this awesome community of nerdy and friendly people. I likely would have never come this far without y'all's encouragement and positivity.

Soulforged Stillness by Kitoypoy

This condition is quite a harrowing one D: Suddenly freezing in place with no clear explanation, unable to move or speak and remain this for years, decades or even centuries?? Jeez... At least some of the Mechani-kin were unaware through the duration of their stillness or chose to become still, but the same can't be said for some others...
Damn Kitoy, you might give me nightmares XD Well done!

This article is yet another wonderful and intruiging one from the ever-hardworking Demongrey! I really like the format of this article and how meta it is! But man, every single living thing, physical or not, just disappearing with no explanation? Oooh...D: The possible explanations are very interesting, especially the one about "worldbuilders."
Wait a minute. Did we try to delete this island from existence? I hope not!

Dulkanen by Theiket

These hill-loving folks are absolutely adorable and I greatly admire their protectiveness of their home, the kindness they show to others and the customs that align with natural cycles, among others; all of it delightfully brought to life by Theiket's vibrant and cozy writing.
10/10 would spend a week with these fellas :D

Verdant Cradle by Leijona

Using a mixture of magical and natural components, this incredible piece of technology singled-handedly saved the Augalai (cool af plant people) from extinction. Hooray! \o/
I am so in love with that way these living-trees-turned-nurturing chambers work and how they protect the budding saplings inside. Huge kudos to the wonderful Leijona for crafting such an important article ^^

Solar Pulse by Nnie

Imagine a regular solar pulse but it regularly spits out dangerous angels intent on destroying you. That's solar pulses in Solaris, baby!
In all seriousness, this article, coupled with the ones about the Scourge and the Scorching of Mercury, paints a pretty bleak image for the state of Mercury and potentially other planets and the lore surrounding them is super intriguing! You can always count on Nnie to cook up some fascinating worldbuilding lore :D

Bapycara Café by Mochimanoban

Honestly, you had me sold at "customers encouraged to cuddle with the twenty bapycaras wandering around the floor." XD Bapycaras have to be among the cutest Yonderverse critters and going to a café full of them? Sign. me. up!!!
Mochi does a lovely job painting a cozy and cuddly atmosphere of these cafés and the added details of the steps taken to keep the customers and bapycaras safe is a nice touch ^w^

Brasara Caverns by Strixxline

Aww. Okay, this is quite a cute one. Imagine getting lost in a cave with no idea where you are. Then you hear that asks you if you're lost. And what kind of tea you like. Noice. The khiroph seem like really nice and well-meaning folks though, even if they don't believe you came into their homes on purpose XD
I've recently began to enjoy reading Line's articles ^^ They're so nice and cozy and this one is no different :3

Pendraken by NimrodialLibrary

Ahh Pendraken. What a guy. I can see why he's in Nincho's husband's top five favourite characters XD
If there's a type of article Nincho is best at, it would be characters. Seriously, her characters are crafted so well and Pendraken is no different. His rough childhood and the situations he and his sister are in make me feel sorry for him and hope for the best. Buuut, given that he's a slave trader, he's got a long way to go before being redeemed. XD

Vadiases by Catoblepon

Oh. My. Gosh. I LOVE Cato's new interactive world!!! The amount of time, effort and love poured into this is astounding! And the CSS?? Well, what else is to be expected from our wonderful Cato ^^
Vadiases is a small fishing town that serves as the beginning of our journey and where we meet a lovely innkeeper who I assume will be our companion. I love the cozy vibes of this article and I cannot wait to see what future adventures await us here :D

The Spice of Life: Gruzzo's Kitchen of Wonders by Imagica

I'm gonna be honest. Choosing a single article from Kena'an was tough XD All of them are incredible and wonderfully crafted! But there is one that especially stuck as being my favourite.
This wonderful textbook showcases a series of gorgeous recipes made by the goblin chef Gruzzo (who is my second-favourite character, just behind Boo), each reflecting different stages in his life and culinary journey. I absolutely love the colourful language and attention to detail present--a staple in Imagica's writing. And the best part? This is an avenue for collaboration! If you have a food article that you'd like featured, simply drop it in the comments and Imagica will have it featured! Collab opportunities like this is one reason I love this community <3

Plans for 2025

I've been thinking a lot about 2025 and I've decided to cut down on writing to focus on developing my characters as I feel like they've kinda been lacking. I'll only really put out articles during challenges, official or not, and that's only if I'd have time given that I'll start college in a month or two. I'll also put special emphasis on improving my art and maybe(?) start some comics (but considering how hard I can be on myself, I won't make too many promises). I've also set up a list of goals for each month!

• January: Work on Auxul's technology
• February: Flesh out Ysteria's main creatures (vampires, werewolves and witches)
• March: Expand on the things mentioned in Mytharae's article
• April: Work on characters, backstories and relationships
• May: Improve on pixel art
• June: Start some short comics
• July: Do some more CSS
• August: Make progress on Forbidden Love
• September-December: We'll see!

Andrea is among my favourite characters to be written simply because, well, she's just so cool :D

Who doesn't love vampires?! Or at the very least find them interesting? :D
