Mytharae is a realm with two distinct sides—one side vibrant and vivid, the other dark and treacherous.

Myrtha, the Upside

On the Upside, also known as Myrtha, a picturesque world unfolds, brimming with colour and tranquillity. Here, serene forests teem with enchanting flora and fauna, lakes sparkle like mirrors with their crystal-clear waters, and majestic yet gentle mountain ranges rise gracefully in the background. Bustling cities and expansive kingdoms also thrive amidst this beauty, inviting exploration and adventure at every turn!

Kharae, the Downside

The Downside, infamously known as Kharae, is an entirely different story. Shrouded in perpetual shadows, this hostile land is marred by jagged landscapes, lifeless scenery, ominous storms and dangerous apparitions that seem to echo the restless spirits of its tormented inhabitants. It serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between light and dark, where danger lurks in every corner, waiting to ensnare the unwary.

The Gates, Bridges Between Realms

At the edge of the world, six majestic Gates stand in a circular formation, serving as portals between the Upside and the Downside. These entrances are inaccessible to no one but The Vanguard, an elite group of the fiercest and most loyal warriors chosen by the gods themselves. These warriors undergo rigorous training, honing their skills to protect the balance between the realms and prevent chaos from spilling into either world. As the sun sets, the Gates shimmer with an ethereal light, hinting at the power that lies beyond them, waiting to be unleashed.

The Cosmos, Vast and Grand

Enveloping Mytharae like a thick, warm blanket is the Cosmos, a vast expanse of twinkling and swirling stars and other celestial bodies that decorate and illuminate the night sky. The constellations tell ancient stories, whispering secrets of creation and destiny to those who gaze upon them. Hence, every five years, the Recognition of the Cosmos is held and the people of Mytharae gather to share their dreams under this cosmic tapestry, united by the shared wonder of the universe above. It also serves as the abode of the gods who watch over the realm, guiding the fate of its inhabitants with benevolent hands. As the festivities unfold, offerings of light and song rise into the night, bringing with them hopes and wishes carried on the gentle breeze.

The Flip, the Catalyst for Chaos and Upheaval

Think back to the coin mentioned at the start. Remember how it can be flipped? That is the case for Mytharae, except that it is not necessarily a physical flip.
Once in a millennium, a strange phenomenon occurs--the Gates that keep the denizens of the Upside and Downside contained within their realms inexplicably deactivates. To this day, nobody knows the cause. A peculiar weakness? The workings of a particularly mischievous god? We cannot say. What is certain, however, is the result. This rare event floods the world with chaotic energies and beings from both sides, clashing and intertwining in ways never witnessed before. As the boundaries blur, the fate of both realms hangs in a delicate balance, forcing unlikely alliances to emerge amidst the turmoil. Fortunately, The Vanguard stands ready to restore order and send the residents of the Downside back to their perilous home.

They dwell in the concealed recesses of the Cosmos, gliding among the luminous stars like enchanting spectres. They safeguard Mytharae with the same tenderness a mother shows her child, intervening subtly during moments of profound distress such as The Flip. These celestial beings frequently visit the realms, engaging with the inhabitants and forging intimate and long-lasting relationships.
They lurk within the depths of darkness, biding their time to unleash chaos and mischief upon the world. Skilfully, they orchestrate both natural and supernatural disasters, sowing seeds of discomfort and distrust in the hearts of the people.
Yet, their true intentions remain shrouded in mystery, as their playful nature often masks a deeper purpose. It is said that every misstep they orchestrate serves as a lesson, guiding the people of Mytharae toward their destiny.
