Haven

Protecting it's Citizens from the Convergence, Haven Cities may have varied in shape, scope or amenities, but integrally shared the same function: Keeping both the environmental effects and Horrors outside their (magically reinforced) doors.   A haven is a magically reinforced shelter, equipped to be lived in by thousands of people for hundreds of years, to survive the Convergence. These havens differed wildly from one to another, especially from one Realm to another. Some were underground cave systems with artificial light, others would be floating discs to escape the terror on the ground. With the end of the Convergence, most havens have been reopened and people have started reclaiming the land. There are said to be countless yet undiscovered and unopened havens in the countryside, yet to be discovered and reopen their gates. What follows are a few examples of the bigger and more well known haven cities across Mindosza:

Skastheim

Skastheim lies far north, close to The Marrow and is a large tunnel system starting at the foot of the mountain range, leading far underground. It was home to a large portion of Fensalir populace. It is hard to determine how large the tunnel system in its entirety but it is said to have harbored over 50.000 people. While Some adventurers feel the need to venture out to the world to find honor and glory, some to this day still turn "inwards" and choose to walk through some long forgotten passageways of Skastheim, deep under the mountain to find treasure that was lost right in front of their eyes.

Nkonkoni

Nkonkoni, right next to Lake Ebusuku is a glittering city, home to the most advanced arcane practitioners and technological masterminds. Being a society focused on technological advancement, the Shona were less hindered by political intrigues when planning for the Convergence and therefore had a head start in creating this and other haven cities. Pouring all their knowledge and wisdom in the creation of transparent magical barriers, they were able to continue their lifes within the confines of the city. This however came with it's own unique challenges and hardships, as they were doomed to witness the scope of the Convergence, having little to no chance to turn their eyes away from the terror that happened all around them. It does not take long to notice a certain disconnect from emotions from most older generations of Shona People, who have had to endure this for a long time. The shorter-lived Thri-Kreen are probably most blessed, as almost an entire generation has followed since the end of the Convergence.

Thespaeia

Thespaeia, like Skastheim is an underground City, built into The Marrow, central to Thespian influence. Having a highly hierarchical Society before the Convergence, this reflects a lot in the architecture of Thespaeia. Lower Class citizens were living in rather cramped and unsightly domiciles, while the clergy and social elite inhabited a separate ring-structure connected only through very small passageways, to allow for trade goods to pass on, but eliminating almost all attempts of revolt. Over time, this led to uprising during the shelter period and a revolution shortly after the gates opened, ending in a more democratic society as of now.

Emain Ablach

Emain Ablach is at the Center of the Blood Wood and the biggest, if not only, haven of Tuatha Dé Danann society. If Shona is the prime example of a premediated and planned approach to the Convergence, the Tuatha de Dánann are very much the opposite. Being a very elitist and arrogant society, most Elves were more concerned about their houses than their realm. This led to them being rather unprepared to the horrors of the Convergence. After being driven to use vile magic practices to protect themselves in a last minute effort, the Forest around them turned to a grotesque and scarred image, driving most elementals out and protecting the Tuatha de Dánann, but while claiming a huge toll on them. Emain Ablach is at the center of the Blood Wood and these effects are probably most visible here. Most Trees and vegetation either turned to stone, or are perpetually "bleeding" a red magical substance, akin to acid that destorys everything it touches. While the Elves lost their supreme standing the the society, the other Races, such as the Windlings, have picked up this responsibility and share the burned of rebuilding and hopefully returning the Blood Wood to a more healthy state.

Askalon

Askalon lies at the bottom of Lake Ban. Being highly adapted to the life in water, the denizens of V'strimon chose to use this to their advantage and seek shelter in the depths of the sea. While some Effects of the Convergence may have spared them as a result, living embedded this deeply in the water, had it's own hardships, even to them. (tbc)
