Skastheim

Skastheim lies far north, close to The Marrow and is a large tunnel system starting at the foot of the mountain range, leading far underground. It is a ramshackled Haven, being built at the very last minute. The fields in front of Skastheim are a vast ancient graveyard to many of the people who never managed to get in, either because they were too late or because Skastheim did not have any more room. Despite all, it was home to a large portion of Fensalir denizens. It is hard to determine how large the tunnel system is in its entirety but it is said to have harbored over 50.000 people. While some adventurers feel the need to venture out to the world to find honor and glory, some to this day still turn "inwards" and choose to walk through some long forgotten passageways of Skastheim, deep under the mountain to find treasure that was lost right in front of their eyes.

Being in a poor state initially, fleeing into the safety of the undermountain just to be safe from the Horrors, that were right on their heels, the inhabitants had to be inventive out of necessity, just to be able to provide for food and water. However, Goblins and Dwarfes thrive under these circumstances and managed. While Miners were able to quickly expand the tunnel network under the mountain, to provide more living space, inventers and magicians were able to create light crytals so bright, that they were able to replace the sun, enabling them to grow crop and harvest while under the mountain.

While this managed to eliminate the immediate thread of starvation, these centuries of shelter created entire generations of young fensalir that never knew anything but a live of only scraping by. When the Convergence ended most Fensalir chose to leave this way of living behind. This led to them trying to dig up as much old technology, treasure and artifacts as possible, always looking to improve their way of living. Once fensalir stumbled upon their first Airships while salvaging an old wreckage, this led to them devoting to building a large fleet of airships, that they use to cross the land, looking for treasure and pillaging villages if necessary.

Entering Skastheim today, you will be likely to step into a steampunk wonderland, whith whirring devices and buzzing aperatures everywhere.
