Nkonkoni
The Shona Capital City of Nkonkoni is located next to Lake Ebusuku which provided ample fresh water and food during the Convergence. Being a very Progress oriented people, the Shona were far ahead other denizens when it came to embracing the looming convergence. With their ample warning time, they managed to put up magical means of protection.
Instead of having to resort to underground vaults, the magical dome that was summoned was instead able to protect the city, leading to Nkonkoni being the only people, that still have a relatively complete library of historical texts and knowledge of pre-convergence societies. Therefore magical and technological progress might have been halted during the convergence, but at least not entirely destroyed. Word has it, that Nkonkoni even has access to an Arcane Railway station, even though it is inert, due to the rail network outside the city being largely destroyed.
However, Nkonkoni paid its price in a different way. While they were safe behind the magical barrier, this barrier was transparent and the full extent of the convergence was painfully obvious to all shona people. No matter if they wanted or not, they were faced with the Horrors that roamed the land and which tried to enter the city at many occasions. As Nkonkoni is far across the desert, behind The Marrow, not many people have experienced what this has done to their people, but there are whispers about their heartless calculating attitude.
