Ridesh

Ridesh is an island off the coast of Blood Forest, and to the south of Magia well known for its coastal cliffs and rolling mists.   Much of Ridesh is flat pasture, grazing land for sheep and cows. Ridesh is sometimes referred to as “The Vanishing Isle” with low banks of fog making navigation in the surrounding waters difficult.   Ridesh currently holds govenership over Lirhan, and the influx of wealth has improved its political power in the Conclave.

Demography and Population

The people of Ridesh generally live in small, widely spaced townships, with farmland in between. Ridesh maintains Lighttowers in most settlements, crossroads and along major roadways, providing assistance in navigation when the mists roll in as well as food and board for travelers.   Locals generally avoid traveling when the mists are in, believing that the mists themselves hold power, and often conceal more than just ditches and brambles. This can leave those living outside of central townships isolated for long periods of time and guests or travelers staranded, those in Ridesh pride themselves on being good hosts, and even in isolated communities are usually very welcoming to travelers.

Religion

Like all nations in the Magus Conclave, Redeshis practice Ioism, the worship Asgorath The world shaper.   Prior to the conclave worship of The Lady of Mists was common in Ridesh. The standing stones that can be found on the island are said to be assosiated with her worship, though accounts different on the exact role they played.

Foreign Relations

Ridesh is currently half way through its term of Governence of Lirhan , and has benefited greatly from the influx of mineral wealth and taxation during that time. However, it has put Ridesh further at odds with Ilyta. While Rideshi accusations of Ilytian attacks on their costal communities and ships are denied by Ilytia and the Conclave as the acts of pirates, Ridesh continues to demand that the attacks cease and compensation be paid. Continued attempts to raise the issue in the Conclave have gone nowhere and reduced Rideshs power in the Conclave.

Education

Education in Ridesh is limited, and varies widely between communities. It is common for children growing up on farms to receive only what education that their parents are able to pass on and deem useful.   Conclave Mages in are often expected to provide education to local children while they complete their contract, though due to the cultural difficulties of travel, and the inclination and skill of the Mage involved, the quality and topics of education vary widely.
