Lirhan

The Northern province of Lirhan is bordered by the Shield Mountains to its north and Pythia and Elyne to its south. Lirhan has extensive mineral wealth and is known for the quality of its craftsmanship, particularly for its high quality weapons and armor.   Following the Arcane Ascendancy and the Summit Isle Treaty the Magus Conclave installed a government in Lirhan, with each of the other Satrapies taking a three year term of governance. Continuing poor management and neglect by successive Governors has left roads to fall into disrepair, mines in danger of collapse and towns and villages harassed by bandits.

Demography and Population

Lirhan has a large population of Dwarves, who consider the Shield Mountrains their ancestral home. Dwarven traditions have had a large impact on Lirhan’s culture, particularly the value of craftspeople who are often the most respected members of communities, this craft is supported by many mining towns.   Scribes and Scholars are also valued in Lirhan with even small settlements often hosting numerous record keepers and libraries known as Halls of Memory.   Since the beginning of the Governorship the prosperity of Lirhan has suffered, with the majority of its mineral wealth being exported.

Military

Lirhan has an estensive network of watch towers and keeps strategically placed in the landscape to aid in communication and defence in times of crisis.

Religion

Like all in the nations of the Magus Conclave Lirhans worship practice Ioism, the worship of Asgorath, The World Shaper.   Before the Conclave it was common for those Lirhan to worship The Great Guide while worship of The Platinum Dragon was more common in the northern regions.

Foreign Relations

During the Arcane Assendancy Lirhan was the only nation to officially declare for Selwin Longwood. After Selwin’s death at Morgans Crest, having lost its war with the Conclave, Lirhan was forced to sign a treaty seceding governance of the Satrapy to the Magus Conclave, who have installed a series of governors from the other satrapies each on a three year term.   Lirhan’s renewed independance continues to be an issue of open debate in the Conclave, with Elyne and Ilyta both having spoken on behalf of Lirhan’s independance bid while Pythia firmly opposes it.   Lirhan is currently two and a half years into the current term of Governance by Ridesh.

Education

Children in Lirhan take classes in the Halls of Memory, typically between ages five and thirteen. By the time they finish this education students are able to read, write, recite the history of local families as well as having experience in a variety of trades.
