Ilyta

Ilyta a stormy, humid island off the coast of Ridesh and Blood Forest. The interior of the main island is dominated by humid forests and the waterways that are the nations main ways of travel. Ilyta also controls two chains of smaller islands to its south and east. As such Ilyta is regarded as the primary naval power of the Seven Satrapies, and while the powers of the Conclave and Ilyta both deny it, putting coastal attacks down to pirates, the islanders are still known to raid coastal setlements in Ridesh and Blood Forest.   The clans of Ilyta are ruled by the Nukaba, the head of the most powerful clan. Once they have ascended to the throne, their word is law, and while the position is mostly hereditary Ilyta does not accept rulers that the people see as weak, and over the centuries many clans have claimed the throne, and much blood has been spilled to get them there.

Demography and Population

Ilyta has the highest Orc and Half Orc population of any of the Satrapies. Many Ilytians are employed as sailors, or in trades that support this work, and Ilytian captains and crew are highly sought after.   Tattoos, piercings and other body modifications are common in Ilytia. Tattoos often contain symbols that represent clan, profession, while rank is more usually shown with piercings.   Elders in Ilytian society are highly respected, as are seers and practitioners of Divination magic. Feats of strength and skill are also highly valued, with large crowds gathering to view physical competitions of all types. The most prominent of these celebrations is The Day of Trials.

Religion

Like most in the nations of the Magus Conclave Ilytians worship practice Ioism, the worship of Asgorath, The World Shaper.   Before the Conclave Ilytians primarily worshiped The Lord of Storms, and many of the traditions of that worship have been integrated into their own form of Ioism. These traditions are often viewed by outsiders as borderline heretical.

Foreign Relations

Ilyta is regarded as the primary naval power of the Seven Satrapies, and while the powers of the Conclave and Ilyta both deny it, putting coastal attacks down to pirates, the islanders are still known to raid coastal settlements in Ridesh and Blood Forest.

Education

Knowledge is strictly controlled in Ilytia, with elders, seers dictating who may and may not be taught what topics. Drekkidyr also hosts one of the word's largest libraries, with access strictly controlled by the Nukaba.
