Amir Al-Malham
Hon. Amir ibn Mahmoud al-Malham (a.k.a. The Lion of Kassala)
Amir ibn Mahmoud al-Malham (born 2236) is a Cinuan politician and military officer who currently serves as Cinu's first Foreign Secretary, a position created under State Speaker Baladi Asghar. He served as the Cinuan Ambassador to the United Nations of Sol between 2294 and 2298, where he helped to bring about the end of the Serajji Conflict alongside many other diplomats. Prior to these roles, he served two terms as the Kassalan Representative to the Cinuan Union. al-Malham served as Chief Prosecutor of the Interstellar Sapient Rights Council between the years of 2298 and 2300, where he focused on prosecuting both Manoran and Sol war criminals, earning him respect in the newly founded Gilgamesh Confederacy, and ire from the United Nations of Sol.
al-Malham was born in Zawilah, in the Kassala Republic. He attended the University of Kassala, where he studied under prominent Philosopher and Civil Rights Activist, Louis Poincaré. He was conscripted into the Kassalan Army during the Cinu Unification Wars, where he served under General Çetin Üllasuli. Following the Unification Wars and the rise of the Unitarian Party, al-Malham fled underground alongside his fellow anti-fascists. He would go on to join the Majlis Alhuriya, and participate in the Retaliation of a Hundred Swords, losing his right eye during the Lordanian Revolution. He then became part of the newly formed Cinuan Peacekeepers, where he attained the rank of Captain, responsible for the protection of Cinuans displaced during the Revolution, and the suppression of surviving pro-Unitarian remnants. He was honourably discharged after being elected to serve as the first Kassalan Representative to the Cinuan Union, where he would lead the Cynic faction of the Majlis Alhuriya, accepting the compromise of the Third Great Debate.
al-Malham is considered a Democratic Socialist, and currently resides in the city of Al-Mular.

Personal history
al-Malham was born in 2236 to a middle-class family in the city of Zawilah, Kassala. At the time of his birth, Cinu was a largely divided planet comprised of hundreds of minor independent regions that convened at the United Nations of Cinu. The Lordanian Economic Collapse of ‘53 led Cinu into a series of devastating political events and upheaval as the United Nations fell apart and the planet collapsed into the Cinu Unification Wars. Growing up in Zawilah during the civil war, he escaped much of the trouble facing the rest of Cinu thanks to the cities defenses, and the military strategy of Çetin Üllasuli. At 16, he was eligible to vote in the Election of '60, where, like much of the Cinuan people, voted for the Unitarian movement. At 18 he enrolled at the University of Kassala where he studied law, joining the local anti-unitarian movement. Here, he attended lectures by Louis Poincaré, who was by now a known vocal critic of the Unitarian government.
At 20, al-Malham was conscripted into the Kassalan Defence Force, where he served under the leadership of Çetin Üllasuli, the future dictator of Cinu. Remaining in touch with Poincaré, al-Malham became one of many ex-soldiers to abandon his post and disappear into the desert following the Purge of '66, joining their now exiled governments in hiding. Resurfacing as part of the Majlis Alhuriya, he quickly rose to prominence as a determined fighter and political figure. Alongside Maimun Nasir, he assisted the transition from guerrilla force to Government-in-Exile. He participated in the Retaliation of a Hundred Swords and helped establish the government in its occupied territory. He then became part of the newly formed Cinuan Peacekeepers, which was dedicated specifically to defending and protecting civilian lives during the uprising. He became close allies with Aliyya Karimi, and the two maintain a friendship.
Post-War, he led the Cynic faction of the Majlis during the Great Debates, opposing the beliefs of his mentor, Poincaré, in favour of a decentralised, stateless society. Refusing to compromise on his ideals, the Cynic faction largely fell out of public support, and he returned to regional political matters as the Kassalan Representative to the Cinuan Union. His time as Kassalan Rep took place during Cinu's careful integration into the United Systems of Sol, which he supported, voting in favour of Fazel Aslani and his Liberal faction.
Following a near crisis during the Gaia Conflict, al-Malham was voted Ambassador to Sol, where he helped to smooth tensions and open relationships with the other member states. Upon conclusion of his term, he joined the Interplanetary Sapient Rights Council, an NGO based in Sol dedicated to investigating and protecting sapient rights. As a high profile lawyer, he took on many cases of violations of rights conducted during the Gaia Conflict, as well as Corporate exploitation of the workers. His commitment to a non-isolationist policy brought him into the political circle of Baladi Asghar, and he resigned his position in the ISRC to become Cinu's first Foreign Secretary, a role created by Ashgar as a sign of increasing non-isolationist policies.
