The Barren Desert (Mainó)

The Barren Desert is located on the south-eastern part of the Alabioris continent, in the black dwarves' terriories: the Dul Amarath realm.

Geography

This region is surrounded by sea on the south and eastern parts, while the north and west of this place is covered by the Aranarus mountain range. A large and abundant river called Onil comes down from the mountains up north and flows into an inland ocean named Ologrum. It is a magical sea that despite it's high salinity, the diversity and abundance of life reaches higher values than in coral reefs scattered throughout Gielinor's sixteen seas.

Ecosystem

The whole region is mostrly a vast and extense desert that is filled with all sort of aberrations and monstrosities. Like the name says, this desert bears no life and only horrid creatures roam this unforgiven land. On it's middle, surrounding the Onil river and the ocean Ologrum there's an oasis that life grows freely and thrive with the protection of druids from Zugspite Cabal.

Ecosystem Cycles

It does not change, actually. It's a static and lifeless place.

Localized Phenomena

Ferocious Sandstorms, abnormally heated days and bone-freezing nights are pretty common in this desert

Fauna & Flora

The flora is composed by walking aberrant tree-fiends and carnivorous plants. They aren't producers and there's no food web in this place forgotten by the gods. It's just a everlasting "everyone eats everyone". And where does the energy comes from for that to happen? Well, magic, duh.  The fauna is basically aberrations from the War that lives till this day and other monstrosities that come to hunt them. Red and silver dragons can sometimes be seen fly through the desert's skies aswell.

History

The Barren Desert was once a fertile and dense tropical jungle, full of life. But a hundred thousand years ago, on the Banishment War, the draconic mage leader Aalak raised a mountain range that divided the jungle into two: what's now the jungles of Rivenfell and The Barren Desert. He did it to stall Amled from arriving at The Last Retreat, a sacred place where Durantia and Ravinus created the Aryan Rune, in which Gilmour, the Golden Tide, used to banish the Undying.

Tourism

There's adventuring tourism in the Barren Desert, in which adventurers from all over the planet come to this place in search of new dangers to overcome, riches to find and, of course, learn lots of things (Exp)
