He is younger than you expected, much younger. Wizards aren't supposed to graduate training until 25, yet this apparent 20 year old has not only done so but attained the rank of Archmage. By all accounts he has the power to level cities, but it is hard to remember that with his pleasant voice, chipper smile, and unassuming body language.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

His home life was good and comes from a good family, but the rest is a mix. Being small he was picked on, which is why he can fistfight like crazy. He was dominated by a Sorcerous pervert at age ten, which triggered his magical abilities, which he then reflexively used to electrocute his attacker. That was the start of his semi-religious zeal defending free will. After that he was left with the huge advantage/curse of being able to hear everyone's surface thoughts *all the time*. This enabled him to be uncannily diplomatic and resolve most conflicts, but also made him grow up fast. Unfiltered exposure to the suffering around him made him want to help everyone- mostly to make their lives better but also so he wouldn't have to keep feeling it himself.

With his insane Mind Power, he was pretty much done learning everything school had to teach him by about eleven. He kept himself occupied by continuing to help people who needed it, and helping teach others. He excelled at that as he inherently knew whether the student has understood the concept. At thirteen, when his drive fully kicked in, he was still hearing everybody's thoughts, including the girls, so he was extremely active and only isn't a father because he wasn't fertile yet. It was during this time a student of his future master noticed he was scanning people, and brought him forward for apprenticeship. It was very early to begin, but an exception was made for everyone's safety.

His master was an arch-wizard, and kept a group of five students at any given time. He was largely also a hermit, keeping himself and students in a cave complex five days from Datova, half a day's travel from the nearest farming town. Once a month the students were allowed to go to the town for an evening. Adaon was banned from having sex in town, which he ignored. Whenever he would get back, his master would dominate him into beating himself up with a stick- officially for disobedience but actually to train him to resist domination. At sixteen, he encountered Amanda, a 40-ish farm widow and probably the world's greatest lover of her generation. They got together every month after, engaging in insanely intense sex. Adaon fell hard for her, but she rejected his proposals and eventually broke things off, telling him he needed to find someone his own age. Adaon is still hurting from that, even three years later.

4 times a year the master took his students to Datova for a week, volunteering at the temple of Necros and healing anyone who needed it. It was during one of these visits when he was seventeen that there was a sizable fire in the city, and the temple had its hands full even with six magically active volunteers. One of the most severe cases also had amnesia, and had burns over 90% of his body. He was placed to the side to be allowed to die, but Adaon wouldn't give up on him, trying anything he had been taught, and inventing new treatments and spells on the fly. Eventually the patient stabilized, though not actually healed. Hoping to jog the patient's memory, he brought him to the scene of the fire, which led into the side adventure where Adaon and Lord X started out.

Employment

Adaon started out volunteering in healer temples, then started traveling. He would generally use physiology or magic to heal anyone in whatever village they happened to be in. Adventuring came naturally with that, and continues on with it regardless of whatever other duties come along. He was also employed as the War Mage to Queen Althea and is a lord in Bear Keep.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Attaining Archmage and Arch-Sorceror, Inventing a new system of Illusion, Joining with the spirit of the country of Valkra and surviving, Time traveling to save a woman & baby, was a part of the death of The Grandmother, and relocated an entire tribe of ape-squatches from one island to another.

Failures & Embarrassments

Adaon notably failed trying to treat a head injury on a Jarai some time back, making the injury worse. Another time he spent several hours lost on the plains before he remembered the person he was looking for had a wizard mark on him. Being well-spoken and a good singer, he was unprepared for his flop trying to entertain the court of Lady Telana.

Mental Trauma

Adaon has twice killed the entire crew (or close enough to not matter) of a ship in combat. Both of these events weigh very heavily on his conscience.

Intellectual Characteristics

New spells to heal, create, or transform take him the usual amount of effort and time to create. Spells of mass destruction will just pop into his head over breakfast, much to his displeasure. Because of this, he is always on guard against some internal part of him that enjoys destruction. Otherwise, Adaon's mind is constantly working on several simultaneous projects.

Occasionally they are joined by Lady Talia, Lady Dathania, and Lady Catalina. Lady Catalina is Adaon's paramour, a powerful witch who is currently pregnant with twins.

Adaon's parents are both alive and well, and remain merchants in Datova. His older brother Fflewdur is an adventuring bard. His older sister was in the guard of Datova but has recently relocated to be the steward of Bear Keep. His younger sister Achren is being groomed to inherit the family business.
