Midas, The Golden Capital
Capital of the Realm
Midas is and has always been the capital of Korinthos, since its formation. The city is wealthy beyond measure, culturally diverse beyond comprehension, and nigh impervious in the strength of its walls and the skill of its warriors. Midas is known as the City of Gold as gold has always been here in abundance. It is the Political and Economic seat of the realm and also the home of the rulers of the realm itself. High within the Grand Palace, the Basileia rules from her throne and controls the many facets of the realm. The Korinthian Guard lives here too, protecting Basileia Veta Palladius from harm and facing down whatever enemies might seek to take this seat of power from Korinthos. The city itself rests upon a small peninsula overlooking an inland river that flows into the Sanctum Sea, serving as a waypoint of trade between the East and the West.A City Divided by Walls and Beliefs
In the distance, barely invisible from the Keeper's Tower, beyond the rising and falling hills, the Praetorian Wall looms. The wall is the main defense against any invasions The Ahin might throw at the Empire and its proximity serves as a steady reminder of the danger that lurks beyond. Midas is a grand Metropolis as well, having been built steadily upon itself, it towers over the landscape in tiers of the ages. The city is not without issues though. With the recent rise of The Scourged, the Ordinis Potestas and the Scourged have been butting heads relentlessly and danger of all out war threatens the two religious orders. At the same time, deep within the shadows of the Old District and within the catacombs and tunnels that dot the city, the ShadowHand lurks, ready to take any opportunity that might befall it. For all this, the city still thrives, though its beating heart now falters from time to time.Government
Monarchy - Seat of the Crown
Defences
Layered walls that separate each district as you go up, double tiered gates of steel, moat along the outermost wall, raised bridges to separate districts. Triple tiered Theodosian Walls surround the city.
Industry & Trade
Infrastructure
This city is just as architecturally established as Seidon, the only difference being that Midas has never been rebuilt just built upon. The city is designed in tiers that rise up high above the city with the palace at the top. At the very bottom of the city, the oldest district lies while at the top the newest and most recently established buildings thrive. This gives the city an almost Ziggurat appearance in design.
A massive Aqueduct carries drinkable water to the city from the Highlands to the North. This Aqueduct is called the Animus Imperius or the Empire's Heart.
A massive cistern collects extra water beneath the city. The Cistern is simply called The Tomb of the Old Gods, as the cistern was once a temple devoted to the Old Gods.
The Court of the People is a massive stadium (similar to the Hippodrome) that serves as both a coliseum for gladiator fights and for chariot races.

History
Built 100 years before the establishment of Korinthos, Midas has always been known as the City of Gold. Built along an important juncture in the Jade Road, the city has always been a strategic location as its location atop a large peninsula, overlooking a large inland sea, has provided it with not only military might, but a welcome waypoint for merchants who trade and deposit gold in the city. Midas was always wealthy and the first Basileus who united and established the Empire of Korinthos was born here and thus it became the capital of Korinthos. It would not be long after that the Praetorian Wall would be established, and Midas would be come the stronghold of Korinthos against the South.
Architecture
Mostly made out of stone, the city is a bastion of Korinthian might. Its architecture, however, is very distinct as it seems to be a testament of the ages. As each tier is a testament of the different ages the lowermost district distinctly reflects remnants of the Old Age when the Empire of Ravessus controlled the lands here. From there the city slowly slips into the modern Korinthian buildings that are seen today.
Geography
Located along a hilltop surrounded mostly by rolling hills and plains. To the west a large forest known as The Lumina Grove rests (the trees seem to each have leaves of different colors giving it a rainbow like feel) and to the east, the ruins of Demetros rest a desolated reminder of the first invasion of Korinthos.

"We must not falter, though we may die and leave our children fatherless and motherless, we must preserve our country and our king. Those who cannot defend themselves rely upon our blades and today if we die, we die knowing that we stopped the southern horde from destroying all we hold dear." - Speech given by Strategos Balios, the Final Stand of Midas
