Praetorian Wall
The Praetorian Wall, originally called the Wall of Juventus for the Basileus who oversaw its completion, was finished in the year 807 AH. Its completion marked an era of growth and stability for the nation of Korinthos as it marked an end to the easy raids and holy wars of the AhinRaj. Its establishment ensured a lasting barrier, though it cost the empire 15 grueling years of labor and resources to complete. With its establishment, Korinthos in the East solidified its position alongside its Western sister, Ravesus, a lasting empirical foothold in Raef. To this day, the Praetorian Wall still stands, repaired yearly by skilled Lumin artificers its wards are reinforced and reinscribed and its broken stone replaced and reformed. It stands as a monument of an age long past and shows no signs of crumbling any time soon.
The Praetorian Wall stretches all the way from the Obsidian Sea to the Sanctum Sea, a whopping 400 miles of arcane stonework that's not one, not two, but three walls deep. This genius design created a barrier three walls deep, each of varying thickness and defense. The first wall, called the Star Wall, was only 15 feet tall and 10 feet thick; they are equipped with a patrol track to oversee the empty land just outside the walls and ballistae to repel attacking forces. The second wall, called the Moon Wall, was 35 feet tall and 15 feet thick; this slight height advantage allows the Moon Wall to look over the Star Wall and aid in repelling assaults, but should the Star Wall fall the Moon Wall is still able to attack and repel invading forces who must now face the task of overcoming it as well. The Moon Wall also hosts a patrol track and is equipped with towers every 200 feet. These towers are equipped with specialized equipment called WindLances and are specialized in dealing with living siege creatures such as the massive Greatback Sahali Lizards of the AhinRaj and the Desert Wyverns they ride into battle. The third, and final, wall is called the Sun Wall, and stands 55 feet tall and 20 feet thick. The Sun Wall overlooks the two smaller walls and has all of the same fortifications, except its towers appear every 150 feet instead and are twice as large as the Moon Wall's towers. All of these things, alongside arcane stonework, create a formidable wall for any army or raiding party. To ensure the sanctity of its walls, the Praetorian Guard of the wall went forth and destroyed a nearby city of the AhinRaj called Iskendea. This was both an act of defiance and a means of securing the dead zone that extends beyond the wall so that no army could be staged in secret.
In recent years, the maintenance of the Praetorian Wall has been lax. The previous Basileus, Basileus Felix Palladius, allowed the wall to fall into ruin, refusing to spend money to have it repaired and rescribed with runes. When he was deposed in the Augustana Revolts, his wife, Basileia Veta Palladius, took on the monumental task of repairing that which has been broken. This may be too little too late however, as Ahin raiding parties have become bolder in recent years and rumors have arisen of an Albino Ahin wielding the force and power of their heathen god and uniting the disparate powers of the AhinRaj.
