The Ahin

The AhinRaj, sometimes called the Southern Scourge by Korinthos, is a large and ancient civilization. Its people, also called the AhinRaj but more frequently called the Ahin, are fearsome and wealthy people. Their empire, located in the fertile Blessed Lands, are some of the most beautiful and harsh landscapes around. In this river valley, where the Three Great Rivers meet, food and trade are plentiful. It is for this purpose that the Ahin have flourished and grown as they have into the feared military and economic power that they are today.
Since the end of the The 50-Year War, however, they have made no great military incursions. It is rumored that they still lick their wounds from the final beating they received at the hand of Tiberios, but others posit that they are simply gaining strength and developing new magics and technologies. The fact remains that the current Basileia Veta Palladius fears them greatly and has made advancements of her own in an attempt to stem the "Demonic Heathens" as she is so prone to call them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Most unique, perhaps, from one Ahin to another, are their skin tones and horn structures. The majority of the Ahin have bright to dull red skin tones, but there are always exceptions. Color patterns can range from cerulean blues to albino whites, deep blacks to stunning oranges. Additionally, their horns can range from curved to straight, forward-facing to backward-facing, and even, at times, they can point straight upwards. It is uncertain why their morphological structure varies oso much, but it can be ascertained that no two Ahin are quite similar.

Growth Rate & Stages

The Ahin age at about the same rate as humans, living to be about the same age. Occasionally, an albino Ahin will be born, destined to become what the Ahin call an "Elder." These Ahin live, frequently, to be around 200 years old.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Some Ahin have developed the curious ability to not use magic but to instead utilize their minds as a psionic link of some kind. They may communicate telepathically, lift telekinetically and even astrally project themselves across great distances. This unique ability, called The Sight by the Ahin, is a rare ability and seems to be restricted to only the purest of bloodlines. The extent of these abilities remains unknown, but the implications are terrifying.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Empire of the AhinRaj was built upon, and has existed due to, both the rich culture of its people and the advantageous location in which it finds itself. The streets of the Empire's greatest cities constantly smell of sweet spices and hearty hookah. The Empire, however, has remained relatively silent in recent decades rumored to be because of the disastrous outcome of the Fifty Year War, initially a power grab by the late Caliph Khalil Al-Babar, the war ended poorly for the Empire when Khalil's son rose to the Caliph's seat and decadence overthrew the great conquest, culminating in the desecration of Thakuria.
The AhinRaj Empire has always been at odds with Korinthos, which initially survived as a barrier empire for the great empire of Ravesus. With the fall of its mother country, Korinthos has since established itself as a sworn rival and enemy to the AhinRaj that have so often sought to overcome and overpower it.
