The Korinthian Guard
Reavers of the North
Originally Northern Reavers and Raiders from Skaldir, the Korinthian Guard is an oddity in Korinthos. The NorthMen, feared for their savagery and pagan way, were thought uncontrollable and overly volatile for the longest time. The Korinthian Guard is only tamed by the prospect of gold, the only prospect that seems to calm these rage fueled warriors. Skaldir is a land as unruly as its inhabitants and the Korinthian Guard is proof of this. Fierce and loyal warriors as they may be, they lack the courtesy and training of society and as such prefer the battlefield to the banquet hall. One thing is certain, since the Korinthian Guard was hired internal struggle is at an all time low.Brought into Modern Society
Basileus Basil III, brought the Korinthian Guard to Korinthos two hundred years ago. Their arrival matched a revolt in South Western Korinthos and as such the Korinthian Guard was dispatched as a test run. The revolt was for a decrease on taxes and was 12,000 civilians strong. The Korinthian Guard with their superior training and weaponry made short work of the revolutionists, slaughtering 8,000 civilians and only taking 400 casualties. Basill III was greatly pleased and immediately implented them as the main body of troops in Midas. The Korinthian Guard has continued to serve well and as such have been payed handsomely.Structure

History
Two hundred years ago, the Basileus of the time recognized the need to have a force at home to quell riots and defend the throne while his armies were marching. Promises were made and wealth exchanged and so the Korinthian Guard was formed from 8,000 of the best Northmen that Jarl Thrane Asvardsson could send.
