The Screaming Warlord

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
The only weapon of its kind, Screaming Warlord is a powerful magic flail that curses all it strikes with uncontrollable fits of screaming. The unfortunate victims are only spared when the head that tops the flail is silenced.

Description

The Screaming Warlord is a two-handed flail, with a long, darkwood handle bound with aged leather and reinforced with iron. It is capped at the end by a piece of amber containing a shriveled piece of flesh, a potent piece of reagent from one of the mindless terrors from the Tartarian Gate. The end of the black steel chain is the mummified head of an elven woman, her visage twisted with fury and clouded eyes that roam around wildly. Though dead, the skull is far from still, and will scream and rage at the world around it at all times.   When not in use, most wielders find some way to gag the skull - these are inevitably chewed through by gnashing teeth. An enchanted iron bar has been attached by leather straps around the head by its current owner, and it is showing signs of being slowly devoured.
The head on the Screaming Warlord belongs to Queen Kithindara, a fierce and powerful leader who rose up sometime after the End of All Things to subjugate the lands around her. She was known for her powerful warcries, which were said to be able to break shields or rally cowards. Exactly how she ended up as part of the Screaming Warlord is unknown, but her fiefdom has long since crumbled to dust.
Those struck by the Warlord while she is screaming begin to scream themself. It is an uncontrollable impulse that force warriors to shout themselves hoarse, to the point of exhaustion or even passing out. Unfortunate victims barely have time to gulp down breaths of air between fits of screaming. Worse, they become part of a screaming plague, as anyone they touch suffer the same effect as if they had been struck by the Warlord. Only the wielder of the weapon is immune. In a crowded battlefield, the Screaming Warlord can cause entire formations to collapse with a single strike.
While much of the screaming from the Warlord is incoherent and furious, she will on occasion curse "slayers and betrayers" in archaic elven.
Despite its descicatted appearance, the skull of the Screaming Warlord is as hard and unyielding as steel. Many struck don't have to worry about the screaming course for long if the blow is well-placed. If the head is silenced, the curse ends and does not resume, unless the unfortunate victim is struck again by the screaming skull.

Current Owner

The Screaming Warlord is currently in the position of Adhran the Butcher, a mercenary of few scruples. Though he will not speak of where exactly he got it, he always looks over his shoulder when asked.   Using the Warlord, Adhran has made a reputation for himself as a terror on the battlefield. Just the scream from the warlord have been known to send warriors rushing away from the approaching mercenary.

Construction

The secrets of the Screaming Warlord is known only to the mage who created it. Powerful necrotic forces course through the artifact, trapping embers of the head's personality and power within it. Earth magic mixed with Necrotic accounts for the hardening spells placed on bone and dried flesh, while Astral has been used to spread the screaming curse. Those who know of the Screaming Warlord speculate about some of the reagants used or sacrifices required, but besides the undead godling flesh used, none is plainly visible. Those who hold the flail speak to the quiet throbbing of powerful magic through the grip... Let alone those who feel its might on the receive end.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!   A really fun idea :D Seems like even the allies of the wielder are affected. That must make a real mess in a battlefield XD
