Dhampirs are vampire-spawned mortals. Half-humanoid and half-vampire, their existence is a cursed half-existence for most dhampirs. They cannot heal with positive energy without significant investment, and are notably more monstrous than their fellows.
Many dhampirs are taken by their vampiric parents as servants, future vampire spawn (of the undead variety), or as food. As the mortal parent is often killed during birth or shortly after, there is little escape for dhampirs chosen like this.
