PDRMNEC Light Infantry

This group, making up 2/3 of the PDRMN Espatier Corp, is often compared to a simple infantry force, and is typically looked down upon by the more elite elements of the EC, but they play an important role as an occopying force, and even if they lack the Exosuits of the Heavy infantry, they are an incredibly powerful force, especially with the backing of those more elite units.

Equipment

Every Light Infantry wears a PDRMN Armoured Space Suit. These have a built in comms system (good for around 2.5-3 km range), sensors for most things, a life support system for up to 8 hours, and a communicates with the user's eyes to create a HUD.
On their person in combat operations they typically have:
Weaponry as discussed below
1 Emergency First aid kit
1 Emergency Patch Kit
1-2 l of water
2-3 MREs
Plastic Cuffs
1 Foam solvent sprayer
When not directly in combat, in their packs carried typically by a drone they have:
3-5 days rations
1 Individual First Aid Kit
2 Emergency Pressure Tents
1 PDRMN Jumpsuit
5-7 days life support supplies (in the form of a rebreather)
Spare parts for their weaponry
Additional ammunition
1-2 hull patch plates
Every soldier is typically accompanied by at least 8-12 drones:
1-2 gun-drones, carrying slimmed down M914s and internal ammo packs, these will fire as directed on any target as designated by the operator or other drones.
4-5 eye-drones, carrying a camera and some means of locomotion, these act as forward scouts, as well as help to designate targets for bigger weaponry
1-2 restraint drones, carrying a large net, very effective at trapping enemies for a few seconds
1-2 flash drones, carrying essentially a flashbang.
2-3 pack drones, carrying additional equipment for the soldier.
1 hub drone, which powers all the other ones through either a connection to the local grid, the mothership, or an internal fuel source.
These drones are all commanded by the soldier, but operate "autonomously". Each is propelled in a different way depending on the situation. In space, they simply use powerful ion thrusters powered by their power cells. In gravity fields with no atmosphere, nearly all are reduced to crawling on mechanical spider legs, except the eye-drones and flash drones, which have small methlox engines. Finally, when an atmosphere is present, eye, flash and restraint drones all use helicopter blades, while the rest continue to crawl. These are separate sets of drones, only very rarely is the samme set used in two situations.
The Radioman of any platoon carries many items, like a 3 ls laser comms unit, a phased array radio (5x5 m), and a megaphone, among others, to ensure contact is kept with their commanding element and with each other.

Weaponry

The standard rifle of the ECLI is a PDRMN Coil Rifle, specifically the Maersk-Hamada M914 MWS Automatic Coil Carbine, with an attached grenade launcher. It is loaded with standard metallic slugs, with soldiers carrying an additional 9 magazines, normally 7 metallic, 1 tranq mag and 1 shot.
ECLI Machine Gunner uses a heavy Coil SAW, operating off of an internal polonium power supply rather than batteries in the mags. As such, it uses either a 30 round mag with the same dimensions as the standard 20 round mag, or a belt or box with far more ammunition. On the Gunners person is typically around 3-400 rounds, with a or two drone close beside with a couple more hundred.
The ECLI Grenade launcher, operates much as a mortar unit. The soldier them self only use a standard M914 with grenade launcher, but operate in close consort with a drone carrying what is essentially a mortar system. This allows the rapid and precise deployment of smoke or high explosives. The Grenadier also has an extra couple grenades, but most of their power is in the drone.
The ECLI Long Range rifleman uses the standard M914, but without the attached Grenade launcher. Instead, they have an extended barrel, giving them an additional 3 coils, and allowing for exit velocities of 1500 m/s, with accurate aiming down to the arcsecond. Due to this extreme accuracy, when firing at range, it is placed on a tripod and aimed by the user remotely. While this functionality is available to all soldiers, only the LRR really tends to use it. The LRR and spotter both have multiple small drones they can rapidly disperse around the environment, which are connected to the long range rifle. When one fires, all the other ones simulate the noise of a firing rifle.
All LI carry a PDRMN Coil Pistol on them for self defense, with an extra mag, as well as a short combat knife. The grenade launcher nearly all the squaddies have is a single coil low speed grenade cannon, being able to launch a PDRMN Grenade at around 20 m/s. Standard issue is 2 frag/overpressure depending, 1 smoke, 2 flash, 1 foam, in addition to a trio of flares and a camera.

Vehicles

Generally if they need to use vehicles they will use those of the Cavalry, but on occasion they use a short range transit pod, or just an AATV or ATV if by themselves.

Structure

The standard LI squad consist of 10 soldiers:
Squad Leader
Squad Sergeant
Fire team Alpha:
1 machine gunner
2 riflemen (carry additional ammunition and parts for MG)
Fire team Bravo:
1 grenade launcher
2 riflemen (as above for GL)
Fire team Charley:
1 long range rifleman
1 spotter (trained as LRR)

Each squad is typically part of a platoon, with 3 LI squads connected to a HI or Cavalry squad, an HQ squad and a Corpsman.
HQ squad is just the platoon commander, platoon sergeant, assistant platoon sergeant, a "radioman" (ensures comms to mothership and to other units).
