PDRMN Grenade

This standard body can be loaded with a variety of packages, lethal and not, to be launched by the standard grenade launcher attachment on the PDRMN Coil Rifle, or launched manually. The core contains the primer, trigger, safety pin, and ferrite core for the coil launcher. The core masses 120 grams.
The two common lethal explosive cores are fragmentation and overpressure, each with explosives equivalent to 200 grams of TNT in around 160 grams of payload. The frag is lethal out to 15 meters, 5 meters with armour suited individuals, but for this reason should not be used close to habitat walls. The overpressure grenade will do very little damage to pressure walls unless it is within a meter of them, but is only lethal to unarmoured enemies within 2-3 meters, and armoured enemies only almost on contact. It however, is nearly useless outside habitats, dealing damage only from its limited shrapnel.
Flash grenades are the most common non-lethal grenade, producing a bright flash and an earsplitting bang to disorient opponents.
Smoke is a common loadout due to its utility, but it is useless in vacuum. A smoking core will fume for 120 seconds, using up its 300 grams of payload.
Tear gas is a similar load to smoke, but produces tear gas. Only useful against unsuited opponents, it can still be handy in riot situations within habitats, though scrubber systems will clear the gas within a dozen or so minutes. Tear gas is also used in training to "encourage" recruits to learn to suit up quickly and effectivly.
Foam core packs a small load of Containment Foam, enough to impede an enemy or two if they are close together.
Flare loads are a simple, non-explosive load that simply produces a bright flare without relying on an external atmosphere. The body can be collected after use. The flare is not bright enough to make it painful to look at, but it does release heat, and can make it hard for others to see out of the lit location. Most soldiers use them as signals not light sources as they already have their suit HUDs with intensifiers.
Camera load holds a small hardened camera, battery, and transmitter, allowing for rapid positioning of a camera far from the front lines. Also reusable, even on the field, as the battery will last days.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Small ferrite rod core with a primer charge down the capping both ends. The core is topped on one end by a manual lever and safety pin, and on the other by an impact fuze. The lever has a variable timed fuze, from 3-7 seconds in one second increments with a spot for forever, which can be dialed on the field. When launching, the lever is released, starting the fuze, but if launched the other way and it impacts before the time (or on a no time fuze) it will detonate on impact. Very mechanical and simple.
Item type
Weapon, Explosive
Weight
Base 120 g, With load 200 - 800 g
Dimensions
120 mm x 60 mm (cylindrical)
Raw materials & Components
Ferrite, primer, a few metal components, though the packages tend to be a little more complex. Any grenade except a containment foam one can be constructed on a frigate with materials on hand, and that one can be made on a cruiser.
