PDRM Judicial Branch
The branch of the PDRM responsible both for applying the rule of law, but also in taking in drafts of the bills before they become laws and checking they are both consistent and easy to understand. The PDRM prides itself on the fact that an average citizen can read and comprehend any law in the books, which necessitates simpler language and little cross referencing.
The PDRM operates under a system of civil law. For any minor crime, defined as everything except treason, manslaughter, or theft and fraud involving more than 50,000 MD, only one judge makes the decision and sentences, with assistance and oversight from a Legal Mind. For non minor crimes, at least 3 judges must sit to decide and sentence. However, if the defendant disagrees with the decision of the court on legal grounds, i.e. misapplication of a law or willful ignorance of facts of the case, they can appeal to the PDRM supreme court in Utopia.
The crime rate in the PDRM is quite low, with only around 450 incidents per 100,000 per year. This is mostly based upon two things, the post-scarcity nature of the economy and the incredibly prevalent recording devices. Most people have implants constantly logging everything they and their clothes see at all times, and this is immediately backed up and can be used with permission or in major crimes. While this can be turned off, their prevalent nature means almost everyone is caught. However, the PDRM goes to great lengths to attempt to reintegrate and rehabilitate its prisoners, even going as far as voluntary brain rewriting for violent sociopathic and psychopathic behaviors. One major difference from more typical policies is that every release from a PDRM prison requires approval from a board of physiologists, which can be difficult.
Many prisoners, however, continue to serve active lives while in prison. Tele-presence, mostly one-way, allows for exploration and activities outside of prison, and vast libraries and educational programs are available to all prisoners to better themselves. While there is a little stigma against past criminals, this is typically based around the act itself, and is so normally for the more horrendous acts, which are very rare. Court proceedings are nearly always sealed from public view, with only the barest information available to those inquiring, to attempt to prevent further punishment.

Structure
The top of the PDRMJB is the Martian Supreme Court, a set of 7-11 judges that are appointed for 10 martian year terms by the prime minister. Under them are the hundreds of local court, each with at least 4 legal professionals, any of which can serve as judge, defendant or prosecutor. They all run off of a standardized set of Martian Legal Texts, mostly written by MLM. Any disagreement in a lower court can be taken up with the Supreme court, but it must be to do with law itself, and due to the constant efforts to simplify all legal texts, this is a rather rare occurrence.
