Mars Legal Mind #1 (a.k.a. MLM)
MLM is the primary Legal Mind of the PDRM. It is currently an HV-2.6 mind, though it was originally an HV-1.4. It is responsible for writing, editing, checking and verifying all Martian legal documents, whether written by a human or another mind. It is credited as the author of many major legal documents, as it is given the consensus decision of the parliament and senate and turns it into a legal document. It is, however, not a judge. This was felt to be a conflict of interests, by MLM, and so it spends most of its time making minor revisions to the entire corpus of Martian Law to keep it self-consistent and understandable to even a baseline human.

Growgrammed in the early months of 2123, MLM was designed to simplify the legal mess that had sprung out of the PDRMs experiment with direct democracy. The thousands of page laws that had sprung up to counteract loopholes inserted by members of the public were unreadable and seemingly unsimplifiable. However, MLM set to work, and just 2 martian years later, a new corpus of laws was all set, with all the spirit and almost all the actual content of the previous system, just reduced about a hundredfold. MLM continued to serve to write and codify the bills that were to become laws, ensuring they were succinct and meaningful while being voted upon. MLM also helped greatly in allowing politicians to not have to understand the legal framework, taking in ideas and spitting out legal papers. Nowadays, MLM is a major staple of the Martian legal framework, and is frequently called upon for clarification, help, or just to act as lawyer as all martian legal AI must.

Allowed a major loophole to slip into the 2146 Martian Tariff schedule that allowed for the subsidized importation of Swedish surstromming at %95 of the cost. While not financially relevant, it marks one black spot on an otherwise spotless career.
