Court of Rashim

The Rulling body of Rashim is for all intends and purposes a Theocracy, for the rulling family are gods to the masses, their power and wealth eclipses all, they are the divine protectors of the realm and their will is law.

Devine Heritage

The Holy Bloodline of Rashim can trace back their linage to the early days of the great disaster, claiming that a now unnamed sun god descended unto earth to marry the first ruler of the city, Rashim the First, the fate of their union is unknown as is the fate of the god, but their children would inherit her great power and was given the responsibility to rule in her stead. Since then, the women of the Holy Bloodline has inheriated the power of god, being hailed as the Sunborn, only by holding the power of the bloodline can one hold authority within the court, for it is the mark of the god and the right to rule granted to them.

Competition

This imbalance between the sexes is often seen reflected in Rashim, for the female body has become synonymous with power and authority, but also with competition and rivalry, for the in court the women are always in fierce competition to become more powerful than the others, to enhance their bloodline and weaken others so that they may claim the attention of the Radiant and be given that chance to become Ardent and one day perhaps even Radiant themselves. This fierce competition between sisters and nieces has however given men are unique position within the court, because they cannot claim direct power within the court, they are often given trusted positions by their sisters, for the only ones they can truly trust not to stab them in the back are their brothers, for they are also reliant on the authority of their sisters. As such men are viewed as reliable, protective and loyal.

The Great Families

Though all in the court are related by blood to one degree or another, the court itself is divided into many different families, each one competing with the others and often also within themselves. The great families are rarely unions of love, but rather political marriages made to strengthen the blood of Rashim with their family or to establish contentions with the mage guilds.   Some known families:

The Miraks

The Miraks are one the oldest bloodlines and most influential for their matriach is non other than Queen Taifa Ziya Amk-Rashim Ifra Rashim The Radiant. The Miraks hold incredibly sway in the court, bousting the most powerful sorceresses and most numerous, but with the great age of the family, also comes old rivalries, The infighting of the Miraks is legendary and barely contained to the court, something they almost pride themselves on, as they see it as crucible for the worthy and unworthy members of their family, to many others, it makes them unreliable and dangerous, but the power of their household cannot be denied.

The Jarzanni

The Jarzanni hold a unique position within the court, for while they are a small family, they have many sons within the Craftmen, granting them power through the control of golem construction and while the family has produced few daughters, they are known to be blessed, for one of them has become Ardent, allowing them a strong position within the court if a precarious one.

The Murag'Dra

The Cursed Bloodline, it is unknown exactly how it came to be, but an off-shoot branch of the Miraks, would for unknown reasons begin to produce a generation of tiefling children, the husband who was suspected of this cursed blood, was executed, but the damage was done, for these children could not inherit the blood of Rashim, they were born without power, and seemingly cut from their divine gift, the family was ostracized from the court, and was in on the verge on total annihilation, for none welcome those banished from the court, their desperation lead to the pacts with the otherworldly, and thus began their desperate climb back into society and the court, establishing the guild of Morag-Don specializing in exorcism and knowledge on the otherworldly, eventually even allowing on their members to be on the counsel of the Radiant herself! Though still not trusted by many, non can deny that the family's resilience and tenacity has given birth to powerful warlocks and clever diplomats.

Structure

The Radiant

All power is derived from Queen Taifa Ziya Amk-Rashim Ifra Rashim The Radiant, she maintains an iron grip on all local affairs within her domain, functioning as an absolute monarch and god to the people.

The Counsel

An informal part of the power structure, the counsel itself holds little actually value necessarily, but all know how much power is derived from sitting next to the Radiant, to able to directly influence her decisions, such whispers can make or break a household.   The Council is usually made up of the Radiant's brothers, her trusted confidants that helped her reach where she is now. The current ruler has however long outlived all but one of her brothers, these days the council is made out of those who prove themselves reliable and cunning in the court, and placation to the great houses and Guilds.

The 7 Ardents

Only the strongest of bloodlines can achieve the rank of Ardent, it is the culmination of generations of breeding and training. These sorceresses have proved themselves before the radiant herself, and only by besting a former Ardent can they achieve their rank, ensuring that only the strongest and purest of the bloodline can hold such authority.   To be Ardent is to entrusted by the radiant herself, they are her voice and her will made manifest, functioning as governors and generals and at times diplomats on her behalf. They are to manage the day to day affairs of the Rashim, the noble families, and the minor magician's guilds.

The Advisors

Each ardent is known to hold her small council of advisors, which serve much the same function as the Radiant's own counsel.

Minor Magician guilds

The minor guilds must answer to the crown, but are largely autonomous in their actions and allowed to exist as such, so long as they provide mages and material for any effort the crown deems necessary. These guilds often hold great sway of the populous who look up to them and in some cases even rule over townships. The most affluent of guilds are often found within the court as advisors and tradesmen.

The Noble Families

The Nobles of Rashim are only those families who hold the bloodline of the Sunborn, and this can only be marked by it's sorcerous powers, to be noble is to be a sorcerer to hold such power, is to be part god and it is to hold absolute authority over the masses, it is to rule.

Morticians Cult

Of one the few publicly allowed gods the Morticians hold a special privilege as the queen's own mercenary guard and hold the right to make contracts and to enforce their payment as they see fit. Though they are well aware not to push this privilege, as the union between the Cult and Rashim is fragile at best.

River Cult

The river cult or the magicians of Karlk, hold a unique position outside of the power structure, answering only to the queen herself, the River cult has long been an institute that ensures the prober flow of the river and maintenance of the docks, the guild has long held great power in Rashim, but with the advent of Queen Taifa Ziya Amk-Rashim Ifra Rashim The Radiant and her cull of the guild has once more ensured power restored to the crown.

The Craftmen

The Craftmen are Rashims Guild of Golemcrafters, as one of the most influential guilds of Rashim, few nobels hold any real sway over them. The Guild is made exclusively of men from the Noble households, being one of the few career paths that can see them rise through the ranks of Rashim.

The Holy Church of the Sunborn

The Church is headed by the Radiant herself, and an important institute to the Sunborn, enforcing their divine will and hosting public events in their name.

Public Agenda

The Radiant one and her court has always been there to ensure the safety of it's people, to wield the powers of the sun responsibly and to reclaim the desert from the Sjeri and establish order along great Nitea.
