City of Illusions

The Mages of Mafara have long been masters of the school of illusion, their craft perfected to fight in the dense absorbing mist, to take care of any that would trespass upon their lands while leaving barely a trace of their presence. In these recent times the house of Hirna instead serves as overseers on behalf the Court and have allowed themselves a more civil role with the military aid of Rashim.
Though as the old masters of this city, they still employ their great talents to enchance the natural beauty of their city.

Guilds and Factions

Hirna

The old Rulling mage guild, though they have given up direct rulership to the Court of Rashim and Ardent Kassira, they are still the administrators and part of the rulling class of Mafara, and held in high regard by the it's people.

Sudra

The Sudra are the priest of Karlk in Mafara, since the joining with Rashim they have been in touch with the the River Cult, with their help their influence has steadily grown in recent years, from being subservient to the Hirna to actively being a rival for internal influence of the city, not only that but it their sacred to task to ensure the stability of the mist.

History

All born Mafara know the story of the Karlk's mist and how his tears shielded them in their hour of need, when the ruling Hirna's stepped into the Eye as sacrifice to his greatness. Since then the city has been protected by a thick mist that misdirects and waylays any who try to threaten the sanctity of Mafara.

Coming of the Children

Though it is unsure when, as some report that the children of Karlk, the merfolk, came from the eye to give their blessings and trade with their fathers adopted children. Since then they have lived together in peace, each bringing prosperity to each other, perhaps in this strange symbiosis have the people of Mafara learned to accept the chimera more than any other city.

Tourism

The city is famous for it's many wonderful sights and unique atmosphere, long before it became part of Rashim was the city renowned for it's beautiful architecture, its mystical presence relaxing baths and open theaters. The city offers many unique wares from the merfolk that live beneath the canals and in the oasis, as well as their many unique festivities. Others come to see Adamantine Sentinel standing watch over the city, or Karlk's Temple at the center of the Eye or the fantastical illusions of house Hirna.

Geography

The City is made around an oasis, in the large sweeping dunes at the northernmost point of the Nitea river. Build on the edges of the oasis the city has seen then come to grow over the oasis forced to confine itself within the magical mist which keeps it safe.
