Local geography
Seyn Tayl, one of the Pearl Islands, is located in the western part of the Seynan archipelago, with its town situated at the northwestern end of the island. The town is celebrated for its exceptional scrimshaw, where skilled artisans carve intricate designs into whalebone, reflecting the island’s maritime heritage and the seasonal migration of whales through the region. This event occurs during Fairsky, when hunting boats sail out at dawn to hunt migrating whales, honoring the sea’s bounty. The festival of Bloodshores takes place on the third Seasday of Fairsky, celebrating the hunters’ catches and expressing gratitude to Jires, the god of storms and the sea. As the sun rises, musicians gather along the shore to play lively tunes, welcoming the hunters as they return with their harvest. The community then engages in feasting and revelry that lasts into the evening, highlighting the island’s strong connection to its marine resources. The coastal waters surrounding Seyn Tayl are rich in marine life, supporting diverse fish populations including the Pargam and Melmakkir, which are frequently harvested by local fishermen. Larger predators, such as the Lorghee, pose a challenge for those venturing out to fish. The island’s rocky coastline is also a prime habitat for seals, often seen basking on the rocks or diving for fish. Seabirds are abundant in the area, with Gulls and the agile Stormhunter frequently spotted along the shores, scavenging for food and hunting fish. The impressive Ulmathren nests on the cliffs, utilizing its long wingspan to navigate the open waters in search of prey.Design and architecture
