Chardansearavitriol

Chardansearavitriol (a.k.a. Ebondeath)

Chardansearavitriol, also known as "Ebondeath," was a male black dragon who ruled over the Mere of Dead Men for centuries.

Campaign Recap

On Day 17 of the campaign (30 Tarsakh), Garaele Edermath told Collateral Damage that the soul of a dragon named "Ebondeath" was trapped inside the spellbook that previously belonged to Bowgentle, a wizard from the Harpers. Collateral Damage learned from Agatha that Bowgentle's spellbook was traded to someone named "Tsernoth," and Garaele was able to use her connections with the Harpers to learn that Tsernoth was a member of the Red Wizards of Thay.

On Day 20 (2 Mirtul), Collateral Damage learned the following additional information about Chardansearavitriol in a book written by kobold wizard and historian Kremzik Darkchewer:

After the Uth Kingdom was destroyed by its former royal mage Iniarv, the black dragon Chardansearavitriol claimed the Uthtower as his new lair. He ruled the Mere of Dead Men for centuries, eventually gaining the service of a sect of the Cult of the Dragon and calling himself "Ebondeath."

Personal history

After the Uth Kingdom was destroyed by its former royal mage Iniarv in 615 DR, the black dragon Chardansearavitriol and a tribe of lizardfolk followers claimed the Uthtower as their new lair.

The dragon and his lizardfolk followers ruled the Mere of Dead Men for centuries, eventually gaining the service of a faction of the Cult of the Dragon led by Tani Greenshadow in 916 DR. Chardansearavitriol embraced the cultists' prophesies of a world ruled by undead dragons, and he decided to change his name to "Ebondeath."

In 922 DR, during a ritual at Uthtower in which Ebondeath's followers planned to turn him into a dracolich, a wizard named Bowgentle interrupted. Bowgentle was from the spy network known as the Harpers, and he trapped Ebondeath’s soul in his spellbook before the ritual could be completed.

Years later, the spellbook containing Chardansearavitriol's soul was in the possession of Agatha, a banshee in the Neverwinter Wood. Agatha then traded the spellbook to someone named Tsernoth from the Red Wizards of Thay.
