Jovannan the Wise
An Inventor, Innovator, Investor, and one of the three Gods of Paradise. He lives in the City of Light, as the owner and CEO of Firmament.
Jovannan is unique among his peers in that he is not an official ruler of "his" nation, Vesper (and Lyrica more largely). It is assumed that he wields great power behind the scenes, but on paper the City of Light is run by the Office of the Mayor, State Chamber, and the City Council.
BOOK 1 - Prospertine & the City of Light
Jovannan's name hangs over the entirety of Book 1, but he is physically present only in one chapter. He summons Prospertine and Ramsey to visit him in a state aerostatic, where he is consulting with Bayanard Jov and Richard Lovett. There, Jovannan briefly discusses Prospertine's career prospects, as well as her reckless actions on Coal Island and in Spartanalia.
Jovannan appears in Book 2 only as a ghostly vision while Prospertine is in an altered state, having drunk the blood of another Synthetic as he was dying, utilizing his powers. In this vision, Jovannan presents alternative futures to Prospertine, each taking the form of massive, shadowy monsters. BOOK 3 - Prospertine: Ramsey & the Winter Bloom

BOOK 2 - Prospertine: EquinoxJovannan reappears as a ghostly vision as Prospertine dives into the Ether. There, he challenges her burgeoning revolutionary sympathies, insisting that a free market, gently shepherded by careful regulation, is the most proven method of ensuring that the most deserving rise to positions of influence. Prospertine dismisses this by highlighting her own unjust advantages, and those of other Synthetics, and the vision of Jovannan disappears, suggesting she has failed some sort of test.
