The Road So Far: Winds of Earrenia Act I - Act II

Act I

  • Malcolm, Meara, Zuko and Octavia woke on an airship with no memory of who they are, or what they were doing there, and only learned their names by the name plaques on their doors. Also on board was a man named Emmet, and an older unnamed man on the bridge of the ship. The party discovered that their most recent goal was getting a strange unmarked tablet to someone named Miles Gray in Palhas City. They also discovered evidence of a stowaway on board, that their primary line of work was smugglers, and that at least one of the people on board was not a part of the regular crew. The ship was attacked by Rocs, and they learn their individual skills as they try to save the ship. The unnamed mad found on the bridge was clearly the pilot, casting doubt on the identity of the man who came out of Emmet's quarters. The ship crash lands outside White Blufftownsfolk
  • The party saved the townsfolk, eliminated the undead creatures and interrupted a coven of sea hags trying to open a portal to the Fae Realm. When they returned to the surface they learn that their pilot and a local inn keeper were both murdered. Once they collected their reward, they confronted "Emmet," eventually getting him to confess to erasing their memories for his god. He welcomes death, promising his master would reward him for the sacrifice, and he had already set the events in motion that would end in victory for his cult. Session 2: Horror in the Well Session 3: The Coven
  • In Elta, they found and defeated a powerful Werewolf. Before his only human victim passed away, she passed on a message from the goddess Nallula warning of dark times ahead for them, but promising the gods were behind them. Malcolm learned that his real name is Percival Boone, and he is wanted for murder in Rum Lin by both the authorities, and church with political power across teh continent known as the Temple of the Black Star. Zuko, having found a bow with marking similar to one of his tattoos has the bow identified and discovers that he is or once was a member of the Cormanthor Gisiae. Malcolm and Meara have a brief romantic encounters with Arget Ethyn and Ethed respectively. Before leaving town, they are informed by the White Bluff Captain of the guard, Tidgrud that the man they knew as Emmet, was really Jesper Forsyth and his grave was found empty the next morning. On the road the next night, Octavia went missing during her watch, and evidence suggested she was taken by Jesper. Session 4: Of Mousefolk and Men Session 5: The Greatest Gamble Session 6: A Celebration of Life
  • The crew arrived in Anexa and made fast friends with an ousted Baron(rank:b5c88885-9b1b-4998-9047-1a083be0aff4) named [Clambock Levut. The crew was hired to clear out an abandoned fort of an assassins' guild to earn passage on an airship to Palhas City. While there, they encountered Alaric, who was there because the guild had some connection to the woman that killed his wife. Based on his story of being guided there by a divine voice, and being told to wait for them by name, they concluded that he must be who the gods intended to take Octavia's place in the party. They discovered the true identity of the guild's leader was Lilith Smios, whom Alaric identified as the same woman he was seeking vengeance on. Though she escaped, they found her journal, which connected her and her warlock patron to the city of Hame. They also discover evidence of local nobles hiring the assassins, which allows Clambock Levut to regain his position and even take over as Lord Mayor of @[Anexa Session 7: City of Sand Session 8: Fort Anexa

    Act II

  • The crew and Alaric returned to Palhas City, and were immediately ambushed by members of The Nightshifters led by Sebastian Braun. The crew explained the delay (not mentioning the memory loss), and were taken to the thieves guild's headquarters where they handed over the tablet, and received the key to their Wizard's Door. Sensing that Sebastian Braun was an old friend, Malcolm revealed their memory loss. Sebastian recommended they visit "their old wizard friend." Leaving the hideout, they are ambushed again, this time by Ardun Aaryanfar and Darya Mountwala. The pair searched their belongings for the tablet until the crew explained that it had already been passed to the The Nightshifters. Ardun warned them that 3 tablets were now in possession of the Cult of Mantus and the Temple of the Black Star. The four members of party are the only ones who can access the last one, and if the cult gets the last piece, it would mean the end of the world as they know it. Later, Malcolm realized he recognized the symbols on their cloaks as belonging to a guild known as The Serapis, thought to have vanished long ago. On the way back to their preferred tavern, they learned that the town of White Bluff had apparently been destroyed. Session 9: Home, or something like it
  • After rescuing Lord Ozin Lorimer from constructs of his own design, he agreed to help them recover their memories. Session 10: The Curious Home of Lord Ozin Lorimer Session 11: Clockwork Tyrant
  • The most relevant thing learned from their recovered memories was that Malcolm and Meara had both been tricked into retrieving the first two tablets before their old lives unraveled. When they recognized the tablet retrieved for The Nightshifters, they had intended to confront Miles Gray about who hired him, which probably resulted in the stowaway Jesper Forsyth erasing their memories. Meara read a book called Grandmother, Grandmother, which contained information that would later prove to be more than folklore. The party proceeded to Red Valley and rescued it from a swarm of Torch Spiders. It was here that they took on the name The Regulators. Session 12: Red Valley; The Town with Three Names
  • The Regulators joined Sebastian Braun in Twin Locks to assist with a heist. While waiting for the perfect moment to perform the heist, Alaric received a demonic nightmare, and an unknown entity offered him the power to exact his revenge. During the heist, they were interrupted by a member of the Cult of Mantus who was after a staff that opens a portal to the Realm of the Dead. They defeated him and put the staff where the cult would never get to it Session 14: Second Story Work Session 15: Sebastian's Five
  • The Regulators spent the next month doing work for The Nightshifters through Sebastian. Tidgrud reconnected with them, revealing that he escaped the destruction of White Bluff, and had been pursuing a walking hut across the province ever since. The only ones to survive their first encounter with the witch inside were him and his new traveling companion Gavin Searson. The Regulators agreed to join them and help defeat the witch when he caught up with it again. The party made contact with Jesper Forsyth and discovered that he knew about Arget Ethyn's pregnancy with Malcolm's child. On the night of Letzte Brücke, Alaric killed several vagrants trying to get the attention of the unknown entity. He was granted the power to travel by shadow, and told to kill Empress Alexandra Nordheim. After returning, he revealed what he did to the rest of the party. Session 16/17: Letzte Brücke
  • The Regulators, along with Sebastian Braun and a cleric named Kaylee, participated in an annual event known as The Gauntlet. Sebastian was killed in round three, but they won the competition. Afterward, they overheard Jarl Rupert Wasser and Nilron Morlamin discussing their plans to call for a vote to dissolve the Earrenian Empire after the death of the empress. Kaylee was distraught over Sebastian's death and insisted on pursuing a quest to earn her temple's blessing to have him resurrected. The regulators agreed to go with her. Before leaving town they followed up on research at the Archives of Udal, learning that the entity Alaric was now tied to was Orcus, but there were instances where Warlocks have separated from their patrons. Session 18: The Gauntlet Session 19: The Deadliest Game Session 20: On Matters of Death
  • -The Regulators headed south into Frielos Province to search for the journal Nallula kept when she was mortal. In Bunorley they commissioned a new airship of Malcolm's design, and found information on Nallula's home town. Alaric left to pursue Lilith Smios so his getting entangled with Orcus wasn't in vain. Session 22: The Sage and the Raven
  • in Presterwick Gorge The Regulators found Presterwick and Nallula's journal. They also found the tomb of Kaslan Lowhill, author of Grandmother, Grandmother. In his casket was the teeth of Baba Yaga. Reading the book again, they concluded that the walking hut that was being chased by Tidgrud must be nearby, and the witch was trying to get someone to retrieve those teeth. Session 23: Presterwick Gorge Session 24/25: Abandoned Burrows
  • The Regulators summoned Tidgrud and Gavin Searson informing them of what they had found. They located the hut and formulated a plan to trick the witch into coming outside. They defeated the witch, and Tidgrud announced he would be going back to White Bluff to pay his respects. Malcolm said he would find Tidgrud a new and more fulfilling line of work when he returned. Gavin returned to his academy in Fuen. Session 26: Baba Yaga Session 27: The Dragonborn, The Witch, and the Walking Hut Session 28: Parting of Ways
  • The party returned to Bunorley and picked up their ship, Serenity, finalizing arrangements to be paid royalties for future ships of the same design. They hired Thradreg Duskchin and Trystan Evan as crew members. Malcolm offered to hire Kaylee as well, but she said she was likely returning to the temple.
  • The party returned to Palhas City and arranged for the resurrection of Sebastian Braun. When he woke up, he said he had matters he had to attend to on behalf of Nallula, but whispered something in Kaylee's ear that caused her to announce she would be leaving the temple and staying onboard Serenity to support the party.
  • The Regulators went to the home of Lord Ozin Lorimer to see an invention he was working on for Malcolm; special magic rounds for his guns. The ship was sent to earn fares and cargo (legal and otherwise) while the party and Kaylee attended a banquet in their honor for winning The Gauntlet. During the feast Malcolm discussed their new ship design with Jarl Rupert Wasser who then proposed government shipping contracts, as Serenity could land and unload in places other airship could not. Malcolm also witnessed the Jarl being informed that the body of Miles Gray had been found. The jarl was concerned that if The Nightshifters collapsed suddenly it could destabilize the economy. Malcolm admitted he had contacts within the guild and could find out if someone had taken his place; though Malcolm suspected already that this was the task Sebastian Braun had been given. The Palhas representative to the Earrenian Imperial Council, Nilron Morlamin left early, and before Malcolm could convince Jarl Wasser of his suspicions, the great hall was attacked by members of the Cult of Mantus. Session 30: Murder is Served
  • Malcolm told Lord Ozin Lorimer to get Jarl Rupert Wasser to safety while they teamed up with his elite guard to defeat the cult members. Afterwards, they helped track down Nilron Morlamin and interrogate him. Nilron said that his family was in danger and he wouldn't reveal what he knew until his family's rescue was assured. He proposed a game of Crossroads Gambit, in which Malcolm swore on his soul to rescue Nilron's family. Malcolm lost the game but Nilron, as agreed explained how he came to betray the Jarl. After The Gauntlet he returned to Fuen and was arrested by members of the Temple of the Black Star and brought to an underground chamber where members of the temple, the Cult of Mantus and the Emperor Valem Ekström. They showed him his wife and child being baited into the Palhas City temple and told him they were aware of the plot to dissolve the Empire. He was ordered assist in the assassination Jarl Rupert Wasser. The party then went to The Nightshifters hideout and confirmed that Sebastian Braun had taken over. He explained that Nallula informed him how important The Regulators were to the future of the world, and the leadership of Miles Gray would hinder their mission. He said the guild would be transitioning from theft and smuggling to a spy network. Malcolm then enlisted their help to rescue Nilron's family. Session 31: Treason
  • When Serenity returned, the party set off for Elta to move Arget Ethyn to a safer place. When they arrived, they found that the town had been sieged by demons and was currently under the occupation o fhte forced of Diabolus, a demonic demi-god. Defeating the forces at the gate, they searched for Arget in The Welcoming Maiden, but instead found Ethed wounded and suffering from blood poisoning. Kaylee healed her, and Ethed explained that Arget was the only citizen the demons seemed to want alive, and she was taken into Diabolus' tower. Session 32: The Massacre of Elta
  • The party ascended the tower and faced off against Diabolus. Narrowly rescuing Arget Ethyn and escaping the tower before it collapsed into the sea. When the party went to check on the survivors that were barricaded in the local temple, they had met a group of demon hunters from the Infernum Aurora . They claimed the revenants from among the survivors and left. The local cleric of Nallula rewarded them with a magic coin that would free a person's soul of any debts to a particular god. The party offered to take the handful of survivors to Anexa first thing in the morning. Arget Ethyn told Malcolm she would abandon the The Welcoming Maiden. During the night, Meara followed the avatar of Ivorr into the woods and had a face to face talk with him. Session 33: Infernum Aurora
  • Ivorr revealed to Meara that he had chosen her to be one of Ivorr's Hunstmen because he knew her destiny as an heir of the champions of the Fyra. He wanted her to retrieve the last tablet, and give it to the Cult of Mantus in his name. Meara refused with little hesitation. Ivorr told her he would send the rest of the huntsmen after her for the betrayal. Before returning to the ship, Meara found an oversized black wolf stuck in a bear trap and abandoned by its pack. She rescued it and convinced it to come with her, naming it Wulffric. The next morning they discovered Ethed had seemingly become 10 years younger and had burned down The Fool's Purse. She said she sensed a calling in a dream the night before. She didn't know much but would be pursuing it to find out what it meant. They packed up the refugees and returned to Anexa to tell Lord Mayor Clambock Levut what had happened to Elta. Clambock hired Serenity to take troops and supplies to investigate the rebuilding of Elta. He offered his own estate as safe haven for Arget Ethyn and also agreed to hire Tidgrud as one of her personal guards. Malcolm received a coded letter asking the party to meet the writer at Between Two Streams. When they arrived, they were joined by none other than Ardun Aaryanfar. Session 34: Öldungadalurinn Part 1
  • Ardun came asking for their help in getting the last of the tablets. He described a place the The Serapis had control of that once the tablet was brought there, no one would ever be able to retrieve it. He pointed out that though the tablet's current location could only be accessed by the heirs, if The Regulators were to die, the new heirs could easily be tricked into retrieving it by the Cult of Mantus as they had been before they knew how dangerous they were. Malcolm insisted that Ardun explain everything he knew before they agreed to do anything. Ardun went into the history as best as he could: Mantus was an entity more powerful than any of the gods in modern lore. A cult of his followers created the original tablet to break down the barrier between Mantuus' realm and the Mortal Realm, and he caused untold misery for a millennium. Four women somehow attained the ability to ascend to a level of godhood nearly equal to that of Mantus, becoming the Fyra. They chose four champions who then defeated Mantus, and split the tablet, sealing him away. Malcolm, Meara, Zuko and Alaric were the current living heirs to that legacy, though Ardun admitted they had lost track of Alaric recently, and he could be dead.
  • They agreed to go with him and were transported to a small city in northern Kartonok. During their trip, Ardun Aaryanfar revealed that he was suffering form a cursed wound that would not heal. He had received it in Hame when trying to retrieve one of the first 3 tablet pieces. This quest would likely be his last. They ventured north into the mountains to the ancient keep of Klizmir the Undying. They encountered Klizmir's undead horse and found it was drawn to Malcolm, indicating that he was likely Klizmir's heir, and future Champion of Death. At an altar in the castle dedicated to the Fyra, Malcolm confirmed a spiritual connection with Xaena. Meara found herself connected to Cyuna making her the Champion of Life. Zuko found comfort at the shrine of Gedia making him the champion of light and order. There was evidence in the castle that someone else had been here recently; the undead guardians of the Hellige Riddere were already defeated, and a hidden compartment containing a book that revealed the secret entrance to the tablet chamber had been broken open. Session 35: Öldungadalurinn Part 2
  • Entering the vault where the tablet was hidden they found it had already been taken. Alaric joined them and revealed that he had killed Lilith Smios but finding himself unfulfilled, Orcus offered to bring his wife back to life if he would retrieve the last tablet piece and kill the remaining heirs. Though he seemed set on accomplishing his mission, it was obvious that part of him wanted them to stop him. When Alaric was defeated, he apologized for what he had done, hoping they understood why. Malcolm gave him the coin they received from the cleric in Elta, clearing Alaric's debt to Orcus, and allowing him to join his wife in the afterlife. Malcolm finished him off with a merciful gunshot to the head and they stored his body for a proper burial. Outside the chamber, Ardun Aaryanfar had discovered the remains of Octavia and used a spell to show them her last moments. Jesper Forsyth had brought her there to retrieve the tablet piece, but even not knowing what it was for, she chose death over helping Jesper. They returned to the outskirts of Palhas City and Ardun prepared to take the tablet piece back to his headquarters. He warned Malcolm that a possible side effect of being the Champion of Death was agelessness, which eventually drove Klizmir the Undying to madness. Before Ardun was able to leave, his partner Darya Mountwala whom he though was dead appeared in the clearing with him. In truth, it was Jesper Forsyth(person:2ccf322c-a445-45ed-803f-9f6af8d88f75) in disguise. @[Ardun Aaryanfar sacrificed himself in his own fireball spell to keep Jeper from stealing his keys to The Serapis headquarters, and The Regulators. fought with the Cult of Mantus till they finally secured the tablet. Lord Ozin Lorimer transported his tower into the clearing and called them inside. There, a Regent of The Serapis retrieved the tablet, ending the threat of Mantus once and for all.
  • Session 36: Memento Mori Session 37: Hands of Fate

    Act III

  • Returning to Palhas City, Meara caught wind of a huntsman looking for her. Based on the description, she concluded it is was Jerue, a childhood rival that would probably be happy to kill her even without a bounty on her head. The party used their knowledge of the Palhas Underground network to smoke him out of hiding and cornered him in The Half-Full Tankard. With encouragement from the rest of the party, Meara agreed to face him one on one.
  • And that is where we begin our stream...
