Session 28: Parting of Ways

General Summary

Parting of Ways

19th of Wintercrest, 22nd year of the Second Era   As Baba Yaga's hut burned, Tidgrud and Gavin Searson shared an intimate conversation apart from the group. When it concluded, Malcolm asked Gavin if he would be able to teleport the party closer to Bunorley. It required a running start for the horses and wagon, but he was able to get them to a Wizard's Circle in an ancient ruin overlooking Haligham.   The party took time to tend to their wounds while Gavin began transforming his hawk into a riding horse. Malcolm spoke with Tidgrud, informing him that he may be able to get him a job with Clambock Levut if he was interested. Tidgrud said he would accept the offer gratefully, but he would first be taking a journey to the ruins of White Bluff to pay his final respects, and he would use the solitary journey to reflect on everything that has happened.   Gavin packed up his horse and prepared to leave. Meara noticed he seemed upset, and Gavin admitted he never wanted to take on this quest to begin with as he considered himself an academic. It was simply a requirement for his continuing education at Darrora Academy of Arcana. However, now that it was over, he didn't want to leave.   Gavin and Tidgrud said their farewells to each other and the party and started their individual journeys as the party started West. They camped a few hours outside of Bunorley without incident, though Zuko suffered flashbacks when he encountered a field mouse. He allowed it to make off with a small amount of jerky, and perhaps experienced a moment of emotional healing.

Welcome to the Serenity

20th of Wintercrest, 22nd year of the Second Era   The party entered Bunorley and first picked up Malcolm's custom pocked watch before visiting Cadnost to let him know that they survived the journey. They told him everything about the quest while he prepared his breakfast. The party then headed to the Upper District and began searching for a suitable bank to facilitate their business arrangement with Pakenham Shipwright Corporation. They were recommended to the Frielos Holdings Bank after telling a local that they primarily operated on this coast of the Empire.   When visiting the bank, the manager was at first concerned about a band of adventurers opening an account with them, until Malcolm explained their arrangement with the Shipwright. They opened an account and were explained the terms of the relationship before depositing 1000 GP into the account. They then proceeded to Pakenham Shipyards where they were told the ship was already at the docks, and the design had already sold enough ships to cover their remaining balance. They were then brought to Serenity and given a tour before they headed to the local airship crew friendly tavern, The Blue Crane to find a pilot.   After interviewing the three available candidates, they chose Thradreg Duskchin, a middle aged dwarf who was not only a skilled pilot, but experienced with ship to ship combat. They also negotiated with Trystan Evan to come on as an apprentice pilot, and a deck hand, due to his skills with tinkering and craftsmanship. The party welcomed the two new crew members and began making arrangements to depart.   To be continued... Session 29: Resurrection and Redemption
