Overview

The Sanctuary was a group (and an eponymous location) created by the superheroine Demetria at some point after the untimely death of her daughter, Danica, also known as Starbrite. Fearing that other young superheroines could suffer the same fate as Danica, Demetria formed the group to create a safe location where vulnerable young metahuman girls could learn, grow, develop their powers, and develop friendships and alliances.

Disbandment

After the Sanctuary was destroyed and Demetria killed, it's presumed that the organization was disbanded. However, given that the Sanctuary seemed to have quite a number of young heroines as members, it's possible that someone else has stepped forward to lead them.

Significantly, the heroine Harridan remains at large, and since Demetria's plans for mentally assaulting the city were only known by a few and all the evidence has been destroyed, Harridan is likely still a hero in good standing. The connection between Demetria and Harridan is unclear, but Harridan for whatever reason seemed committed to Demetria's goals. However, given Harridan's proclivity for violence, if she were to take on a leadership position with the group that remains, it would likely be a much darker and more dangerous organization.
