Master Kriv Argenthrixus
Background and Role in Our Story
Born to the east of Paleran in 618VD, Master Kriv took the scholarly route through Draconian society. Becoming one of the youngest dragonborn to ever obtain full membership of the scholia Draconia, Master Kriv was in many ways a great success, though not all of his interests and areas of study were approved of in society at large. However, he found friends that shared the same... pursuits. Kriv disappeared from the public eye for a decent period of time before arriving at Thrantium in 648VD, seeking entrance to the Mage's guild of Viseria and a fresh start. Kriv was enraptured by the wealth of historical knowledge in the Guildlibrary and after a long period of study, followed by a long period of travel across all of Hurron, Master Kriv returned and became a Guildmaster in 663VD. Later, in 669VD, he became Head of the GuildLibrary. In our tale, Master Kriv sat on the council of Guildmasters that judged Terry Tinkle and Jackob Aar as they entered the admissions for the Mage's guild of Viseria. Rubbed the wrong way by Terry's brashness and laissez-faire attitude, Master Kriv seemed suspicious and adverse to Terry's entry. Kriv was intrigued by the bonk squad's research into the fey in the Guildlibrary and gradually seemed to warm to the group. At Count Merillion's ball, after the pair had been narrowly defeated in the Mage's duel that was the third test, Jackob and Terry found Master Kriv in the Palace's library. There, when Terry laid the squad's cards on the table about the fey, Master Kriv revealed that the guild were aware of the fey threat, but were currently unable to act, promising more information if they met him at the dragonborn shanty town in Thrantium Dockside the next day. Later that night, as a target of the assassination, Master Kriv assisted in fighting back against the Four Finger assassins, displaying his magical prowess and assisting the bonk squad in thwarting the assassination attempt. When met at the docks the next day, Master Kriv revealed that the guild was aware of the fey returning to the world. Even within the Mage's guild itself, a student was found hung by a vine, all the pure iron was missing from the guildforge and strange flowers were growing everywhere. The Masters were planning what to do next, when the Head of security, Master Vivienne, who had been pushing for decisive action against the fey, was attacked. The Guildmasters ran towards her screams and found her intact, except for her mind, muttering "don't trust the master, I the master said, for the seeming master has fey thoughts in their head". After that, suspicious of each other, the Guildmasters decided to wait until after admissions, hoping to discover the fey impostor within the guild by then. Kriv sent to Vincerus, the resident expert on the fey, but the bonk squad had informed him that he was dead. Kriv had no idea who the fey impostor was. Jackob Aar, Knor Ti Knockarz and Vyth Aar, along with Master Kriv and the present Master Vivienne, headed to Siren's Island to visit Hypsile, hoping that she might be able to help them and fix Master Vivienne's fractured mind. Later on, after the council of Thrantium's meeting, the bonk squad ventured into the catacombs of the Mage's guild, hoping to research the fey and discover the reason behind their upcoming attack. Infuriated by this trespassing, Kriv confronted them, taking them back down into the catacombs in a furore. There, he and the bonk squad discovered a stone of Siara, which the bonk squad deduced that Driscoll must be after. Kriv agreed to keep it safe on his person, though this did not succeed as Verion and Fallas took it from him when they triggered their plan. Having barely survived the fey siege-stone attack on Thrantium, Kriv reanimated the body of Fallas and through interrogating him, questioning Hypsile, reading the feyrillion and studying Master Vincerus' notes, he was able to make sense of much of what was going on. He communicated to the bonk squad, Ellyjoybell Lightfoot and Inidil how Siara had cast Driscoll out of the feywild long ago, casting a powerful spell that shut the feywild off from the material plane forever. However, her heart, which she had been using as an arcane focus, shattered, and the pieces became the stones of Siara; keys into the feywild. Driscoll now sought these stones, a few of which remained in the material plane in Sylvathair, Aldradia and the Haemus mountains. Knowing this, Kriv sent the bonk squad north to Aldradia and the Haemus mountains to fetch the stones before Driscoll, whilst Ellyjoybell and Inidil went west to Sylvanthair.Appearance
