Driscoll
Background and Role in Our Story
In our tale, Driscoll was first encountered by the Tinkle twins, Terry and Larry at the Lintoll, a travelling festival. The halfling brothers had gone there to make use of the distracted public and gain some coin. After a few classic rackets and pickpocketing antics, the pair ended up embroiled in a task for the leader of the Lintoll. While chasing down a thief and tearing through a magic shop, the pair accidentally knocked down an ancient mirror, which unbeknownst to them contained Driscoll. Later, in the Lintoll prison, Driscoll offered to help them escape, taking the guise of a prisoner. It was only fair as they'd released him. Offering them a wineskin, Terry and Larry Tinkle drank deeply of the metallic, red liquid; Driscoll's blood. Accepting his help of escaping in exchange for three favours, Driscoll led them out and gave Terry a ring, which instantly fused to his body before Driscoll disappeared. The Tinkle twins carried out their final tasks at the Lintoll, grateful to be freed from the prison but concerned at the deal they had struck with this Driscoll figure. Returning to the Lintoll headquarters, they found a horrific scene in the prison. The other inmates had been killed, slashed to ribbons and written on the wall, in curling rivulets of blood: "Fancy a drink?". Meeting Driscoll in a bar, the fey explained that they had inadvertently freed him from his mirror prison and he wanted to help them in return. The agreement they had struck was bound in blood and they would have to uphold their side of the bargain, three favours for their freedom, or face the consequences. The first favour had been getting Driscoll out of the cell. The second, was to journey to the village of Qarton and "to help the druid find what he's looking for". Terry Tinkle and Larry Tinkle had no further contact with Driscoll until they arrived at Vincerus' Castle, looking to find the source of the villagers' disappearances in Qarton. After they defeated the cyclops, which they found there defending a purple portal, Driscoll came to congratulate them. Summoning a great hall, garlanded with white roses and carpeted with moss, the fey invited them to sit and join him. Driscoll congratulated Terry and Larry on doing as he'd asked and thanked the others for helping them. He'd needed to access the portal and the bonk squad had made that possible for him, so as a reward, he granted each one question to be answered truthfully. He gave Knor Ti information on the mysterious Aldradians that had kidnapped her mother. He gave information on the lotus compass, which sensed fey portals and feystones. He gave information on the nature of Ip's illness. He gave information on the growing cracks into the feywild. Then, Driscoll requested a final favour. All he required was for little Larry Tinkle to fetch the feystone for him and for someone to carry the stone, that he could not touch, into the feywild with him (of course he would never harm this bearer of burden). With the Tinkles fulfilling their third and final favour, they were freed and Sareth agreed to enter into the feywild with him, hoping to find a cure for Ip. The bonk squad did not see Driscoll for a while after that, though the presence of the fey was noticeably increasing. However, while in Thrantium the bonk squad uncovered that the Four Fingers had been charmed and were being led by Fallas, disguised as their leader Big Chungus, whom the satyr had killed. Fallas, one of Driscoll's loyal servants, revealed that his master would soon arrive and that the bonk squad would soon be dead. It seems that the siege-stone and the ominous plot surrounding Thrantium could be traced back to him. The next time the bonk squad saw Driscoll was through a door of Siara that Fallas was opening in the catacombs of the Mage's guild. Verion and Fallas, having posed as Master Jarana Duthane and Big Chungus, had launched a pre-orchestrated attack on Thrantium using the siege-stone to give time for them to open a portal to Driscoll. Sat on his jagged obsidian throne and surrounded by a dark, monstrous and misshapen army, Driscoll sent several waves of troops through to assist his Satyr servants. However, the bonk squad managed to kill Fallas and then Verion, the feystone dropping at Knor Ti's feet. Taking up the stone of Siara, Knor Ti launched it through the expanding portal, closing it. Driscoll smiled. It had not been all that he wanted. But it was what he wanted most. Later, Master Kriv Argenthrixus revealed some of Driscoll's origins. After the death of her daughter Aurelia, Siara, the elven wizard of legend that had entered the feywild, was enraged by something Driscoll had done. Pulling all her magic together, Siara cast a spell of unfathomable power, casting Driscoll out of the feywild, locking him inside a mirror and closing the feywild off from the material plane forever. However, the power proved too much for her heart, which she had been using to focus her magic. Shattering, her heart chrystallised and formed the stones of Siara, keys into the feywild. Driscoll, released from his prison, now sought these keys for some nefarious and sinister goal.Appearance
