Ellyjoybell Lightfoot

Background and Role in Our Story

Ellyjoybell was born in Hillhome in 660VD at the end of Summer. Ellyjoybell's family was not well off and as one of 7 gnome children, she longed to get out of the house whenever she could. A local wizard took a real liking to Ellyjoybell and as a result took her on as an unofficial student. Under the wizard's mentorship, Ellyjoybell learned much and studied hard, the dream of joining the Mage's guild of Viseria hardening in her mind and driving her forward. However, travelling all the way from Hillhome to Thrantium in Viseria is no mean task, nor is it cheap. After working hard for many years, Ellyjoybell had saved up enough to make the trip to Thrantium and to pay the entrance fee for admissions to the guild. Hoping to impress and gain the position of scholar primaria, thus gaining a bursary and choice of work, she steeled her mind and focused on making it past the tests.
Having passed the first test with flying colours, Ellyjoybell found herself teamed up with Terry Tinkle and Jackob Aar for the second admissions test, which was to bypass a series of logical and magical puzzles. Not wanting to let anyone else slow her down or become an obstacle to her success, Ellyjoybell drove forward with little consideration for her companions. As she advanced through the test, she began to appreciate Jackob and Terry's skills. The group made it through the second test.
In the third test, two hopefuls would have to partake in a mage's dual, the winner continuing on with admissions. Ellyjoybell was paired off against Terry. The fight was close, but Elly managed to make it through by a knife's edge. Feeling somewhat regretful for dashing Terry's hopes, Ellyjoybell continued her admissions.
As one of those in the running to successfully join the Mage's guild of Viseria, Ellyjoybell was invited to the Count's ball. While there, Terry swept her off of her feet with his charm and impressive dance skills, a small flutter of affection kindling in her heart. Now she felt very guilty for beating him.
Having seen him and his friends in action, she didn't hesitate in going to then when her hopes of gaining the scholar primaria seemed to be fading away. Learning that the final admissions test for the Mage's guild was to retrieve an artifact and that Hethress claimed to already have one, she went to the bonk squad for help. Her idea was to raid Thrantos' palace for magical items, which the group agreed to. Later that very night, the bonk squad sought her help in entering the guild to research the fey and help prepare for the oncoming assault. Ellyjoybell agreed to help, but not everything went to plan.
Eventually retrieved by Master Kriv Argenthrixus and having explained the oncoming attack of the fey on Thrantium, Elly and the bonk squad turned in for the night before exploring Thrantos' palace the next day. In the palace, the group managed to find an artifact of Thrantos, an amulet that allowed the wearer to read minds and scry across the material plane. At this point, however, the fey attack began and Ellyjoybell and the bonk squad leapt into action.
Having defeated Verion and Fallas in the fey siege-stone attack, but also having given Driscoll the stone of Siara, Ellyjoybell was included in Master Kriv's plans of what to do next. Knowing then that Driscoll sought the stones of Siara, Ellyjoybell was sent with Inidil, the elven mage, to Sylvanthair, where a Siaran heart lay. She took with her the amulet of Thrantos and promised to keep an eye on the bonk squad.

Appearance

Ellyjoybell has a small gnomish stature, with large green eyes and red hair. Most of her clothing is worn and patched up and she's rarely seen without a red bandana wrapped around her hair.

Likes and Dislikes

Ellyjoybell likes magic and intellect. She admires loyalty and talent in others, as long as they're humble about it.
Ellyjoybell dislikes not being able to do something or struggling to master a skill. When determined about something, her single-track mind can cause friction with others that get in her way.

Personality quirks

Ellyjoybell gets incredibly excited by intelligent conversation and debate with others. In her mind, she'd prefer being inside and reading a book to being outside, but in reality she secretly yearns for adventure and excitement.
