Triumph
Triumph is the capital city of the Third Empire of Evermore and the largest city on the continent.
The Districts
The Forbidden City
Located in the center of Triumph, the Forbidden City is a circular fortress the size of a medium city unto itself. The walls of the Forbidden City stand taller than even the walls of Triumph itself, and are dotted with towers manned by archers at all times. Once past the walls, the inner city is crowded with red buildings built in a unique architectural style brought by the Skaldorans from across the sea. Small parks are dotted with monuments and art taken from conquered peoples, and the Rivaen servants of the Emperor live out their lives here. At the center of the Forbidden City are two great buildings, the Imperial Palace and the Temple of the Blades. Aside from the direct servants of the Crown, the extended royal family make their homes here with favored friends of the same and the descendants of those who have been rewarded by Emperors past. The district is named because none may enter without the express invitation of a member of the royal family or on Blades business.Lux
So named for 'luxury' and 'luck', Lux is a district made up of elaborate buildings of marble and other expensive materials. Each is a casino or brothel or other service. These buildings are arranged to hide the quarters and shops of all those who work in these places. Lux is designed to cater to the wealthiest of the wealthy, a popular destination perceived as more exclusive than Dragonscale. Fortunes are won and lost daily, nation-shattering scandals are born, and the alleyways run with blue blood.Clink
Canals crisscross Clink, a district initially constructed out of the defeated Jovanai civilization. The water is pulled via aqueduct that runs through Kuuchin Dai and Eastlight, from Goblin Lake rather than the River Zozun. Clink is like an artificial lagoon, supposedly a reconstruction of the Jovani city of Rialtel, and much business is done by ferrymen. Much work is put into keeping this section of the city looking beautiful, and it would be the most serene place in all the city were it not for the ever-working mills and factories that are powered by thousands of tiny waterwheels, the noise of which has given the district its name. Two major factions occupy this district, the Ferryman's Guild and Manticorp, which produces a significant portion of the world's falseiron and other unusual alloys.Forge's Favor
Red fire from the district is often seen from neighboring areas. Roughly half the population are Orcs and other nocturnal humanoids, all the better to feed the forgefires that work all day, every day. The district is very obviously populated almost entirely by smiths of all sorts, built to take advantage of naturally occurring natural gas that seems to burn indefinitely. Forge's Favor is home to a significant temple of Tilanos. All buildings in this district are made of stone, and the initial buildings were in Skaldoran tradition repurposed from sacked enemy cities, specifically those of the Gemloki. Despite the size of the forges and sheer number of skilled craftsmen, the majority of arms for the Empire are produced elsewhere. Most of what comes out of Forge's Favor is made for those in the other primary districts, especially the residents of the Forbidden City.Welres
A military-oriented district, Welres is named for an Elven general that made his final stand in that location. Ordered barracks and fortifications line everything, crafted of materials scavenged from Langite outposts. It is the permanent home of all Legions stationed in the Imperium, and smaller neighborhoods within the district proudly host veterans, allowed to live there with their families with little to no Imperial oversight in exchange for their service should the city ever come under attack. It is the most diverse district, and home to the most non-humans so close to the Palace itself (not counting Rivaen servants, of course).Embassy
As the name implies, this district is designated for visiting dignitaries and permanent embassies. Many wealthy foreigners own private homes here as well. As with the other inner districts, a majority of the population are those who serve the ambassadors, living in neighborhoods tucked away out of sight of any visitors. Small parks modeled after the different regions of the continent can be found here. It is not only foreign nations that maintain embassies here, but representatives of the Guilds and some extraplanar factions as well.Reachward
The magically talented of Triumph often find themselves drawn to Reachward, named for the series of magical towers throughout the district. The Order of the Eye maintains a full school of magic and several workshops here. It is set aside for magical citizens as the founders of the Empire built this place mostly out of Runestone, and as a result there are regular magical anomalies and unexplained phenomena. It is the only inner district that is almost never visited by tourists.Nogu
Another city-within-the-city, the true origin of Nogu's name is long forgotten. To the locals of Triumph however, Nogu comes from 'No Good'. It is where those rewarded with titles reside, uplifted nobility and landed gentry. Petty lords of tiny estates, many of which have a reputation for acting well above their station. The Rivaen that serve here are known to have been shunned by their own community somehow, ending up in Nogu to work is a punishment they do not speak of with outsiders. The district is also home to plenty of artists and craftsmen hoping to attract the new money in any way they can.Demographics
Triumph is a majority human city, specifically of the Skaldoran ethnicity, but it is also home to the largest concentration of non-humans in the entire Empire, particularly Elves. The second largest population is Rivaen- Imperial Elves. It has been said that a traveler seeking a taste of home will always be able to find it in Triumph, no matter where home is.
