Elves

Elves are among the oldest and most established of creatures in the world. As a species, Elves are so attuned to naturally occurring magic that adaptation to their environments takes only generations, though this process seems to have slowed or halted over the last millennium or so. The Elves as a result are a diverse species, oftentimes hardly resembling one another, but make no mistake, an Embereki is as surely an elf as a Braithstrom.

Naming Traditions

Nearly all Elf cultures share a few common names believed to be derived from the original Elves.   For men, these include Caladrel, Heldalel, Lanliss, Meirdrarel, Seldlon, Talathel, Variel, and Zordlon. For women, Amrunelara, Dardlara, Faunra, Jathal, Merisiel, Oparal, Soumral, Tessara, and Yalandlara.

Major Organizations

The Confederacy of Elvish Tribes is the last remnant of the Time of the Elves, a massive empire comprised of the Langite, Embereki, and Braithstrom Elves.

History

The Elves as a species come from a land they call Atcandeun, or The Place The First People Lived. Each culture of Elves has a different idea of what caused it's destruction, though modern scholars believe it was flooded by the wrath of the storm god Dracorex. The old Elves scattered in all directions, with some landing in what is now Illiria. The Time of the Elves, which came before the Year of the Everking and after the Age of Heroes, lasted for several thousand years, during which time these original elves changed into the several distinct races of such that we know today. Elven empires ruled nearly the entire continent, and the territories they carved out for themselves are still around today in the form of the Imperial provinces.
