Fire Wasteland

The stony desert of the south coast of Damus is bordered by mountains and hills. It was once a dense jungle full of life, home of the Surta elf Fumar tribe. When Damus' Doom came, the eruption of the Nayrlo volcano overran the area and destroyed all living things. Not long after, the Greendragons of the Council of Life tried restore the barren land, but Firedragons, led by their leader, Godronth, prevented this and many Dragons perished in their battle. The plain bears the traces of the struggle even today.

The width and length of the Fire Wasteland is approximately five day's walking distance in diameter, bordered to the north by the Barren Hills. It is more or less closed from the ocean to the south and east by the Battle Mountains, the Storm Cape and the Eseneas Mountains. The temperature is much higher than the rest of the continent, except for a single oasis, there are no water sources. The grayish sand-covered ruins of the Fumar capital, Mytaka, are the only non-natural formations in the desert.

Insects, rodents and reptiles live mainly in the Fire Wasteland, but the drough-tolerant plants remain only in the fringes. Most living things avoid this area by far, even Segai hunting parties and warbands tend to go around the hills rather than go through it. They say there is a vast cave system in the depths, but no one has seen it since the destruction.
